BladeForums 2024 Traditional Knife

UPDATE 8/29 pt 2:
View attachment 2648974

We now have a render with handle material AND nail nicks for the people who demanded them (some of you are so unreasonable, psh not wanting to pinch the knife open). Shield design is not final.

Almost 200 knives sold.
Preorders will stay open until all are sold or the knives arrive, whichever comes first

UPDATE 8/29 - PREODERS ARE LIVE, SEE ANNOUNCEMENT AT THE TOP OF THE FORUMS.

If you accidentally closed the announcement, go to https://www.bladeforums.com/account/preferences and click "Restore dismissed notices"

edit - Well I'm friggin incompetent and 50 of you got your orders in for the knives when they were worded 2023 instead of 2024. That's too many to refund immediately so I am just going to cross my fingers and hope you guys understand that clicking on the announcement for the 2024 knife with it being 250 and a preorder is for the 2024 knife and not the 2023 version

We've gotten word back from Bill & crew at GEC about the 2024 Traditional Forum Knife

This is a RENDERING of the SHAPE of the knife. Handle material color, stamp, shield will be determined ASAP.

Thanks to inflation, my cost on these has increased by over 50%. I will eat as much of that as I can for preorders but we are looking at a substantial increase in price. Non-preorder pricing will be $300 ea or more.

Pre order pricing will be around $250, shipped to CONUS. International was a mess last year, we'll see how that plays out this year.

I will put pre order buttons up ASAP.

Nice

Has anyone said or pointed out whether or not these will have half stops? I also noticed it looked like brass pins in the sketch. So, presumably brass liners and nickel silver bolsters?

Check was sent off today. We are at over 270 sold. Preorders close today when I feel like it, no later than midnight.
Hey Spark Spark , I hate to bother you, but could we discuss the double-purchase I accidentally made? Don't get me wrong, I love this knife already, and could use a user and one for the display case, but still....

Will this purchase promote me from an accumulator to collector? Is this a put it in a display case knife or in the pocket knife?

Depends on the saying you like. If you prefer... "The beauty is in the eye of the beholder" you have a safe queen.

Or perhaps "“There is a kind of beauty in imperfection.” —Conrad Hall. If so, you might try the natural beauty of patina and wear that is obtained from carry and use.

If like this Irish proverb "May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light. May good luck pursue you each morning and night." This one should be heavier than most and may bring you good luck in your pocket.

"There is no delight in owning anything unshared." - Lucius Annaeus Seneca. If that resonates with you, then you need to start a new thread to to let your knife float from member to shining member across the forums with the requirements they take pictures of the knife and post them here for us all to share in it's journey. (A share away?)

Now since "the early bird gets the worm, and I pre-ordered"...hmm .I think I am supposed to go fishing with it.

Edit: if by chance you were seriously asking. I carry all my stuff. I get more enjoyment out of them that way. The touching the using. The looking. I appreciate the lines of age so to speak. To each their own though.

I share that approach. Mine go in my pocket too. They never see hard work. They're for my personal pleasure of owning. My children have been told if after I'm gone they show up in a garage sale I will come back and haunt them!

Preorders are now closed. When they reopen, the price per knife will be $300 each. My thanks to each and every one of you who preordered & made this project happen. Efforts like this 100% would not happen without your support and spirit; I am merely a conduit for your guys spirit.

When I am less muddy headed and have a few free I will get you squared away

I appreciate the opportunity to participate. I know I'm receiving an item that is generally accepted as a good purchase.
