Great knives in this thread!

While I'm not really a Bowie man (more into folders), this year 2 dutch knifemakers each made me a VERY nice Bowie.

#1: Erik Markman: Stag & Damascus.

#2: Gudy Van Poppel: Mammoth & Damascus

Pics by the makers. (I've been a bit lazy, should have made my own pics by now...:o)

Kind regards,

Dave,

The weather is not cooperating, but Coop and I are going to get it done.

Your Bowie deserves the best image possible.

THE BEST BOWIE

BURT FOSTER CLI

NICK WHEELER W-2 FIGHTER

THESE TWO KNIVES ARE GREAT, DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, DETAILS.

There are others that are nice, some are good. A maker can school themselves on the work of these two men, talent on loan from GOD.

Jason Knight
MASTER BLADESMITH

OK. These are a few of my favourites, all owned by me except the second Quesenbery down. Although Mike is making me one of these right now.

Sonething to consider if I may.. If this doesn't kill you from the picture, imagine a flawless ladder pattern that shimmers like nothing else. I've seen this one in action and wow.. Again, (BEEN POSTED, Dont tally)

The Sfreddo Moghul is a stunner. Three piece everything a knife should have beauty.

I have to add that one.

Jason - three great choices indeed - but please hang on to your vote until all submissons are in. We will announce when submissions close and the vote for finalists begins.

Fantastic knives posted so far by all. Remember to feel free to say a few words about your selections - why that particular knife appeals to you. It's not necessary, but it does add to the enjoyment of the thread by all.

And speaking of discussion - do feel free to comment (but not yet vote) on any given submission - that's all part of what makes the thread fun - but please don't re-post pics of previously submitted knives. Trust me - this will make things difficult at voting time when we assign votes to post and knife #. If the same knife is in a couple different posts, the vote will get split. We will most likely catch it. Most likely. :)

Thanks again to additional makers who have posted up their work.

Here are a bunch more to enjoy:

1. Russ Andrews

A sweet and deceptively simply damascus integral. Shimmering ladder damascus transitions to a twist pattern for the integral bolster. Gorgeous bark mammoth adds welcome texture and colour.

2. Bruce Bump Peace-keeper Fighter

The "winding feather" damascus in the piece is something else. Classic premium gun design elements of premium walnut - finely checkered - and rarely seen nickel plating for the fittings and sheath trim round out another excellent 2010 piece from this talented maker.

3. Samuel Lurquin

This Belgian bladesmith really caught my eye this year with pieces like this.

4. Tad Lynch

Clean, crisp and compelling in its simplicity, this knife secured the coveted "Best New Maker" award at the 2010 Blade Show.

5. Brian Thie

Classic Searles-style, beautifully rendered.

6. Bud Richards

Clamshells, damascus, stag - a combo that generally makes me smile, and definitley does so here.

7. Burt Foster - Persian Fighter

Burt's signature laminate steel put to great use here in combination with premium Koa and damascus fittings.

Here's a couple that deserve consideration and a second look.
First is the MOD collab featuring a Kyle Royer blade, Burt Foster handle and guard, and Joe Mason engraving.Sheath by Chris Kravvit.

Next is a bowie by J Neilson, and the sheath by me.

Well, here's my humble submission. I only made 2 knives this year that I would say fit your criteria; this is the best one. Sorry, these are the best pics I have.

I'm sure it doesn't stand a chance of winning, but it seems like the tactical genre should be represented. :)

This was a retirement gift to himself for the chief of police of a city in California.

Lot's of amazing work here.

Dave and Phillip - thank you both.

Phillip - while picking finalists and an ultimate winner is lots of fun, for me, the best part of the BB thread is that it provides a year in review for bowies. So many submissions from a broad range of styles definitely works for me.

I hesitate in posting this with all of the stiff competition this year but this is one that I was particularly proud of:

This is a great way to put together a bunch of fine knives most of witch I had seen at some point through the year but I had not seen the Josh Smith Boston Art Knife Classic Bowie that is a very nice piece Jon. It will not be easy to pick my favorite

NO DOUBT 2010 has been an incredible year in knifemaking! It will be the most difficult year to date to make choices!

I think "sub categories" was mentioned somewhere?

Perhaps something as basic as "damascus" and "non damascus" could be good?
