Voting for the Lurquin. I like the work on the Bump, Fuegen, and Royer best, but they all have something in the proportions that throw me off. Lurquin's is one I actually like overall.

Its close

With less than 24 hrs left its getting exciting :)

This is really tough. What I really see here are two different groups. You have the rough-tough, all business bowies of CAS, Sam and Rick. Then you have the knives by Bruce, Larry, Kyle and Lin where they have taken simple bowie knives and by the grace of their talents and gifts elevated them to works of functional art.

I would be proud to own any of these knives but I have to give the nod to Kyle. If the total ivory ban goes through, the ivory-handled bowie may soon be extinct.

This was such a difficult task. Each of these knives have their own personality.
Bruce's Knife is perfect! I can imagine this blade riding on the hip of a high roller or judge in the old west easily.

The CAS Bowie looks more organic than any knife I can remember. It appears to have "grown" from a petrified forest, Beautiful.

Rick also has a way with making his work look organic. However, this example looks as though it has survived many battles unscathed. I really like it, want it.

Sam's blades all say the same thing to me, "I will kill you!". Simple, elegant deadly power.

Larry is a true master. This won the competition as far as the females in my house are concerned. This knife could look at home in the Wild West or Middle Earth.

Lin's knife is a work of art. Others have taken all the best words to describe this Bowie, I cannot say more.

Kyle Royer is from another planet. His skill boggles the mind. If he never made another knife, he would go down in history as one of the best ever.

In the end I voted for Sam. I can't stop looking at this knife.

Yessir. Close race. Anyone still sitting on the fence needs to come on down or else be relegated to spectator.

Roger @ the ten year mark you should host the winners of prior years best Bowie contest.

Kinda like clash of the Titans :)

I'm a car guy, too. I'm enjoying the diversity of these knives, and it strikes me that they have similarities to some of my favorite automobiles.

Bruce Bump's Bowie is so elegant and classic. It looks like a Stately Packard:

The Claudio Sobral CAS subhilt is no frills--all business, with intentional meanness. I thought it had the presence of a black Dodge Magnum SRT8:

Larry Fuegen's Bowie appeals on every level , and SO refined. I considered the incomparable Dellahaye for it's guidance:

Rick Marchand's piece is a caricature of Badness. It's rough and doesn't make ANY apologies for it's single-purpose roughneck ways.

By contrast, Lin Rhea's stately D-guard is a rare classic, a crowd favorite. Appealing to men, women, and old timers:

Kyle Royer's version carries out the bling with gold smiling teeth and a BIG proud handshake. Star studded amenities.

This said.... All of these have a place in my heart. But not in MY soul. I'm always looking at horsepower and sleek lines.

With this criteria, Sam Lurquin's version made my day.

Thanks for the ride!

O my God, honestly, I can not believe one of my knives is here .
I feel very honored... Some years ago, I saw all of this very distant .
Thank you very much everyone for this nomination...
Best Regards and Happy new year to all.
