Bladeforums BEST BOWIE 2014 - Voting CLOSED - Finalists Selected!

Yes, Roger- Thank you again for this. Lorien- you too. :)

What a chore it will be already to pick finalists.

The favorites that I can think of have already been picked so I'll add one more of my own.

#1: John Doyle- Redwood and bronze S-guard

I agree about the photos

Really makes a difference

I can't remember a knife winning this contest that did not have a proper photo of it

As for tastes in Bowies

I love them all and feel that there are so many good examples of all the genres that it is very hard to make a choice

Many love the very ornate

Many love the simpler more aggressive pieces

As you all know I like the ones that I would reach for in an Apocolypse

hey man, #3 was already posted. Sweet knife for sure, but seeing as I have to tally votes, please take it easy on me and make sure you guys ain't double posting contestants!

My bad... Like I said, you guys already have most of my favorites.

Lorien, I got that fixed

Truth be told it's a Gallery, and the finest artwork (read: images) may dominate. There are some really captivating examples

Cellphone shots or small images stand at a SEVERE disadvantage. You have one chance at making your fave stand out. Use discretion.

This said, posting too large of an image can't display the entire knife. Scrolling to see a knife is as lousy as too small an image.

I see your point and I totally agree, but some of us struggle a bit making pictures agree with bladeforums... (and you can laugh, I'm sure it's easy once you figure it all out)

That being said, I really hope my (or anyone else's) inability to get a picture setup well doesn't hurt the knives chances of winning.

Pro pics are an advantage, to be sure. Just as they are a marketing advantage for the makers who invest in them. But Wieland did win one year (2011, 2012?) with a simple home photo.

John - wow, the redwood and bronze compliment each other perfectly.

Wow, Glad I am not a Judge!!!

I have 17 knives in a dead heat tie for first!!

Oh yes you are. :D We all get to vote for the finalists once nominations are closed. Then we all get to vote for the overall winner in a separate thread. Everyone who takes the time to participate is a judge.

But yes, it is hard. For whatever reason, I generally find it harder to narrow down the full field and select than finalists than I do to select the overall winner.

true words.

Sent my Tsavo pic to Roger to be added to the series nomination to streamline the voting.

great entries folks!

Dan Keffeler's North Sword;

while it's true that I love looking at these knives, it makes the job of voting and counting votes difficult when the same knife is pictured in more than one post.

I understand that some of you are lazy, and don't look through the entire thread to make sure the knife you want nominated hasn't already been posted. But take a moment, go through the posts first, or you just look like a lazy ass :) Mink; I'm talking to you!
