As much as I like GEC, and I love my GECs I'm gonna go with the CSC as the only other wood handled knife we have is the ebony 2000 Moose which was the start of our 10 dot dating stamp.

Great job guys, thanks. :)

Great looking family photo. :)

Wow... maybe I am not seeing what you all see. GEC for my vote. Those Swedges!

Although... both are impeccable.

Any chance of dropping the other Poll, and Sticky-ing this one, Gary?
I'll leave the first for now and when this closes merge them. As each poll closes we can merge them and have one thread at the end of the process. Will that work?

This is not tough for me. I own and like GEC knives very much, so no knock on them, but Canal Street all the way on this one. And I hope the wood is very close to what is shown in the picture (exactly the same would be perfect!).

I voted for Canal Street. They flew out of the gate this year with a great pattern and were quick to modify it to our wishes.

Canal Street. Because I don't have one yet.
The GEC is perfectly fine, but it looks similar to me to their other offerings. The Canal Street doesn't look like a knife that is readily available anywhere else.

I'm going to vote for the knife proposed by CSC but I own both a CSC serpentine stockman and GEC Abilene stockman so I like both patterns. The knife proposed by CSC is much more unique since Eric made it a shadow pattern and his design has the exact combination of blades that I would want. Whether or not it's chosen, I want the CSC knife. The knife proposed by GEC would be their first stockman (not cattle knife) with 440C steel and I want it also. But I would want the spey blade swapped out for a sheepfoot and that is an option. Regardless of the outcome of the poll, I also hope GEC makes the knife with a sheepfoot and 440C steel.

I may have missed it but do we know what type of wood?

The wood in the photo is bocote

John, they were all bocote, chestnut's too soft for a shadow IMO. Wood such as bocote, cocobolo, ebony, the ironwoods are all just fine for shadows. They're very hard and durable, and loaded with natural resins. Plus each one's unique. The burls are cool but way too expensive for the price point, unless luck was on our side and someone was selling a load CHEAP. Osage orange is nice but very similarly grained to oak, and it burns very easily when being hafted. believe me I pored over all of them but the bocote just seemed to pop on this pattern. Micarta is ok but geez every knife will look identical!

Eric

CSC as pictured gets my vote. I think Eric did a great job making a prototype for a proposal. Actually he made several. That plus I love how it looks earns my vote.

Thanks for getting this going despite the 90+ degree temperature today Charlie! I'm voting CSC, may I ask which way you're leaning?

GAAAH! Not fair. Like em both a lot. CSC I think .
Any chance we can see the other prototypes?
Onward and upward.
