What we should have done was talked Kerry out of his contest, and as a similar give back to the communtity kinda thing; talked him into a discount on a limited run of barlows.. :D

(hey, I can dream!)

Gary, I think that is a Great idea. I don't think that Kerry has much going on now, so I sure that he would just be Thrilled to make a few..OK maybe 60 or so..Barlows! :D Heck, if he Does get busy, he can just go 10 miles down the road to that "Tony" guy, and I Sure that that Tony guy would give him a hand on these Barlows! :D

I will certainly be in for one of these, hopefully Queen comes through. Maybe even swing for two and give one to my father. Thanks for work guys.

Spoke with Jennie, who is Queen's production manager. She was unaware of the layoffs at Case.....says Queen is blessed with a great year, so far.

Will have a verbal quote by Thursday, Friday at the latest....I was given her direct number(:D:eek:), so we can stay on top of this.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Right now we are sticking with a barlow rather than the jack linked to above.

If we have to change the pattern, it will be a group decision. The group chose a barlow so that is what we are trying to get bids on.

Are we lookin' at something like this, I know it's an S&M but still made by Queen?

Well, that would be nice, but we are asking for a full length wharncliffe blade instead. Also, prefer a more flared out rear end per the classic Barlow look, but if that was what we got, pretty sure no one would object.

HOW they do the bolster treatment is obviously subject to question.....if they offer laser engraving, that might be the best way to go....not sure yet...too many unanswered questions....once we get the quote, we(us and them, Gus/myself and you guys) can begin to have a meaningful dialogue, and quickly move forward.

Is stamping the blade or tang cheaper than stamping the bolster?

Would some simple file work be an alternative to personalise it?

I think Queen already makes something close to what we want. It's the File and Wire #12. Here is the link to it.

ATS34 steel...nice choice. It doesn't seem to be what was voted on, but I like your suggestion.

Nothing more to add besides "I'm in for one" and if we need to make a minimum order to avoid a setup fee, "I'm in for two."

Thanks to the members that are involved in the planning. If there was a poll thread to make a a purchase commitment, it might help in your planning.

I voted early on and as I promised I am in! Wharnie Barlow sounds great to me....

Like to clarify if there is any confusion....as the cover letter states, it will be a clip or spear blade Barlow, WITH a second blade, which will be a wharncliffe.

Got it, that sounds even better. Sorry to cause any confusion.:o

I realize we are awaiting a response from Queen for our Barlow request for proposal (RFP). I wanted to show an example of their work I recently picked up and have included it in my EDC. This Schatt and Morgan (produced by Queen) gunstock was built in 2000 for the Hawkeye Knife Collectors. I was not part of this group, but acquired the knife recently on ebay. The only reason I mention this here is to show what their (Queen) is capable of producing as a "club knife". This knife is made with ATS-34 blade steel. Although it is foreign made, I really love this blade steel. I can get it incredibly hair shaving sharp, and it holds an edge really well. The American made equivalent is CM154.

Check out the deep blade etching. I also like that they included the edition, in this case 15th edition one of 60. The bolster is etched with the number 55.

Beautiful bone scales, nicely put together. I would love to see them do our Barlow of similar quality.

That is very nice. I really like ats34, and that would make a good blade for sure.
