BladeHQ bringing the Kershaw Skyline out of retirement.

Along with the Spyderco Delica, the Kershaw Skyline was one of the first in my (still going strong) knife journey. My teenage son has it now as his main EDC.

Oh, that sucks :/ I will probably go for the cheaper, better made USA model then, if I get a Kershaw, and get Jade on a different knife.
154CM or whatever they use on the Leek is fine with me.
I’d say go for the bareknuckle being USA made and on KVT bearings but sadly it’s been discontinued though you can still find it at some retailers.

Ok, buddy. I'd rather have a reliable opening and a "regular" steel, than a "super" steel that's a pain to open.
I can make the opening better. I can’t improve the steel on the knife.

I ordered one. Anyone know how many they made? Did it sell out?

Had to go get this one out of the safe. I modded this original Skyline YEARS ago.

Custom Canvas micarta scales.
Custom Standoffs
Polished Kershaw pocket clip
Acid washed and stonewashed blade and liner
Converted all hardware to "chrome" and got rid of all the black.

Can you though? One of the problems with non-assisted flippers is, either the detent is strong enough or it isn't. I suppose you could bend the lockbar to try to fix a bad detent, but again, what a pain.

I'll stick with a good knife in a steel that I have to sharpen every once in a while, rather than suffer a bad knife just to be a steel snob.

Not because of any knock on their more expensive knives, but because I’ve owned some of their cheaper offerings that were downright disgusting (in my opinion), and I feel like they can put a good steel with a good HT on a knife without all that much work and effort, whereas upgrading the whole knife requires some doing.

The question becomes; is this a $50 knife with nicer blade steel, or is it $100 knife with appropriate blade steel?
Yeah, a crappy knife with a premium steel is still a crappy knife but even more frustrating because of what it could be.

Detent is not the only thing that affects opening on a flipper. And YES, I can improve the opening.

Much nicer in person. Very well execution of an old model. I may order some more if there are any left.

How’s the action out of the box?

They’re still showing as “in stock” at BHQ. Mine is on the way!

It's stiff as expected. I'll take it apart at some point and add in some standoffs and smooth out the action.
