BladeHQ bringing the Kershaw Skyline out of retirement.

Nothing much better than a well made USA "budget" knife in a respectable steel. Action for me is about what I'd expect from phosphor bronze right out of the box. Give it a short break-in period and it should be near perfect.

Here are the blade markings. Can anyone identify that little extra logo? Is that the logo Kershaw adopted to signify their short-lived factory Sprint Runs?

The insides are classic Skyline, no change from the legacy design. Action out of the box was disappointing, but it felt like the pivot was over-tightened.

The same PB washers and the same ball-nub detent.

All in all, a little disappointing. This could’ve been an opportunity to really “re-birth” the Skyline, but instead it feels like someone needed to clear out the parts bin.

Value is a stretch. There are so many better, cheaper knives available. The Skyline really is great knife tech for 2007, but can’t compete today.

There aren’t many reasons to buy this at this price, unless you’re a collector of Skylines like me, or want to experience the best knife of a decade and a half ago.

After cleaning, lubricating, reassembly and tuning the pivot, the action is good, for a Skyline. Build up a little pressure and light-switch the flipper and it flies out reliably. I’ll post a video if I can figure it out.

^^ That logo is to indicate it is an original KAI / Kershaw design. No collab was done to design the knife.
