Bad Bladehq smells!

On the Blade HQ specials like the copper or Tanto PM2s they pick and pull all the orders and check the list twice before shipping.

That does make the shipping process not as fast as a star wars transporter but it reduces the chance of someone towards the end of the run missing their knife.

I'm OK with that on the special editions. I"m as impatient for a new knife as the next person but I do try to keep my expectations reasonable.

i wondered why my ordered AND paid for Spyderco Tanto didn't arrive,so i mailed BHQ.got back a message saying "Thank you for contacting us.I've checked and found out that your order has just been prepared for shipping,we apologize for the delay.this should be picked up by the carrier on August 7th.for your convenience,i've included the tracking details"!now they finally shipped my knife!to me it's a stinkin'gang of bastards over at BHQ,some 2 years ago i've had problems with them, but since i wanted the Tanto so badly (addition to my collection!) i tried my chance's,well, NEVER again i go to BladeHQ,they can suck my d..k!wish i had these arrogant pricks standing in front of me,that would give some @#$%^&,but not for me.i'm done with them.more knife enthousiasts having problems with bHQ?glad to hear that!

Let me explain to you the concept of a line/queue. I'm guessing these tanto PM2s sold out PDQ. However, even if you bought yours on the same day as someone whose has already shipped, you may have been more towards the "back of the line". Consider the twits that camp out in front of an Apple store waiting for the new iPhone, or the line for Bon Jovi tickets, or dressed up like a Jedi waiting to be disappointed by Jar Jar Binks. The people at the front of the line get helped first.

The alternative would be to wait until all the orders for the tanto PM2 are boxed up and labeled for shipping before sending them out all at once, but that means the people at the front of the line would be waiting longer, despite being first. Either way, if you were last, you still wouldn't be getting it any faster.

The Tanto PM2s sold out in 2 hours on 28 July. I have no idea how many they had 100, 200, 500, or 1000. That's a lot of packages to ship out. Mine was a day ahead of yours. You are going to be all right, just chill a little.

Just checked - I have 25 trouble-free orders from them! Thinking about it, it looks like I do have a problem with BladeHQ. Well, it's either I spend the money to talk a shrink, or a make another order! Hold on, I'll be right back!

All kidding aside, with their volume of business, there are bound to be problems, here and there. They've always shipped to me super fast. Additionally, the merch is super fresh, and well-packed, to boot! So, I'd give them a bit of slack - I'm sure they'd appreciate it!

I bought one of those tanto's - super cool, IMO!

Be that as it may, most businesses are experiencing delays in getting their products out as well as the mail service having longer delivery times.
I don’t think anyone is arrogant and thinks they don’t need the business, but rather having more to do with less people. That causes a facility to redirect their priorities as to get thing’s done. Sending people emails to let them know their merchandise will be running late probably isn’t real high on the list of priorities.
Down here in Louisiana, if someone has/thinks, been around someone with COVID-19, they have to get tested, wait for test results and quarantine for 14 days. That’s the protocol with most businesses here. So, when you have several people out, it makes everyone else’s job more stressful.
B beattheheat , would you want to go to work daily, include someone else’s responsibility with yours and be happy with it knowing your counterpart is having a Covid-19 vacation getting paid for it ?. I know I don’t like it.
If you knew, from your past experience with BladeHQ gave you a bad taste, why did you go back?. If they were the only place to get the knife, you should have anticipated the delay/issues and been prepared to follow up on your shipment. If you didn’t, then shame on you and not BladeHQ.
You could have canceled the order to prove your point, but you didn’t do that now did you ?

I’ve never had a problem with BHQ shipping but when they started charging CA sales tax I pretty much stopped ordering from them and a few other vendors who did the same. What can I say, I want to pay as little as I can. :D

That line about the binksian disappointment absolutely killed me.:D

I didn't watch another star wars movie for something like 20 years... And when I did they killed off Han Solo....

I don't see the issue.

Don't ever order a custom. A week and a half wait is nothing.
This. And I'm pretty sure ~99% of the people on Bladeforums have something else they can carry/use in the mean time. Why get bent out of shape over a week and change of delay? Assuming you got the knife you paid for, what difference does that hold up really make?

It's because a lot of people expect their order yesterday. They can't be bothered to wait, they want it right now! I've ordered from Blade HQ plenty of times, and I've had a few delays, but I've always gotten my order and it's always been what I've expected. I was even surprised I got the Manix 2 XL as quick as I did. Things are bound to slip through the cracks once in a while though, and being calm and understanding, especially right now, goes a long way when dealing with a business.

So all this because of a week and a half delay in shipping on a special item? And a prompt response when you emailed them for an update.... Although not ideal, seems unnecessary for all the vile comments. Sometimes I appreciate threads like this, it lets me know a lot about who to deal with and who to not.

Edit of note to add, appears the OP has since modified the original post and comments removing most of the nasty stuff. Which was probably a good idea.

I've had only good experiences with BHQ, including during the Plague. Kinda sucks for them that there's a bright red "BAD Bladehq smells" scrolling across everyone's screen. Guess all's fair here in GB&U?

Edit: ... which I just bumped back to the top. My bad.

B beattheheat Will you consider changing the title and removing the 'BAD' flag from this post considering that you were angry at the time of posting and dissed a good vendor without legitimate cause? Remember that they are likely running on reduced staff due to the 'rona, just like other vendors I have purchased from in recent months who also had slower service than in non-plague times.
