Blades upon Books - Traditionals

1992 saga of a idealistic young man attempting to "live deliberately" / a totally practical folding hunter

I really love Into The Wild but the movie is probably good enough for most folks. I feel like I got more out of the book only because I resonate so strongly with Alexander Supertramp.

That Buck's bolsters look brand spanking new!

Finally starting on the Wheel of Time. One good thing about waiting so long to start, is I don’t have to wait for the author to finish (I’m looking at you Game of Thrones) and I can just work my way through the series from start to finish.

Lol ..he died before he finished
His son in law finished the series (granted his son in law is legend in his own right) after Jordan sat down with him and laid out the remaining plot for the story

Yeah, I’d heard that, but I’m also a huge Sanderson fan so still looking forward to it. Was meaning more that the series is finished before I started it, so I don’t get invested and get multiple books in just to be stuck waiting on the author to wrap it up. As mentioned, GoT, also Kingkiller Chronicles, etc. Abandoned series make me sad. Like getting on a rollercoaster and falling out before the last corkscrew. Bit of a let down ;)

Lol I have read wot up to a point..like 3 times

Decided to reread the entire series

Repeat...and I think I've read the first 10 or so
Still havent bothered finishing the series cause I don't wanna start over again

Yes, it's referencing the title of a book within the book! :D

I read a short book on Sheffield history on the plane :)

I looked up the "Crime" one. Your thought police may have been ahead of ours back then.
I may have looked up "homely" when I first read Kephart. Homely as in comfortingly familiar, rather than ugly, was news to me.

No pics from me today till my new card reader arrives.
It occurs to me I could have gotten one a few hours faster on the way home from my doctor, but I'd have had to turn across traffic coming out of her secret headquarters.

Yes, it was good for UK-USA emigration! 😁👍

That is how it is used here Jer, I am only aware of the other usage through movies 🙂👍

I try and keep a spare in, because I have had them fail - or have Windows fail to recognise then - so many times 🙄

I'm surprised to see that I haven't posted in this thread for over 2 months! o_O
I know I've read a book or two in that time, and I see that I even have book photos saved to post here, but I can't remember the order in which I read the books. So I think I'll post a book that I found in the library of the town where we go on vacation in August. I know I've posted photos of the book in other threads, but I don't think I've ever posted it here.
Here is the book's cover. Since we were vacationing on the shores of Lake Huron and there's a reasonably big marina right across from the library and I had been working occasionally for several months learning how to tie some "classic" knots, this book caught my eye at the time:

What impressed me greatly is that the book was prepared by the author using hand-drawn illustrations and hand-written text! 😲:cool: Here's the copyright page:

Here are a couple of representative pages from early in the book. I enjoyed the way the author often pointed out relationships among various types of knots, and showed different techniques for tying a particular knot depending on the circumstances under which the knot was being tied.

If you're looking for a fancy lanyard for one of your knives, Shaw suggests this:

I think he has a hitch for your monocle lanyard, too.
