"They don't dance much" strangely translated in french by "Une poire pour la soif-A pear for the thirst" which itself would be translated by "To save something for a rainy day" The only one novel ever published from James Ross (1911-1990). A terrible and sordid story that takes place in North Carolina during the depression. A very great style of writing very well received by Chandler. However James Ross, as far as I know, remains unknown in the USA.
