blue S90V Military

Mine should be in tomorrow. Going to try not to sell this one this time like my blue para2! Getting one of those again as well when they come out next year!

Not trying to be a party pooper but to my mind, S90V should be paired with CF and CF only. Just doesn't seem right to match it with something like blue G-10.

True. Everyone knows carbon fiber is faster and cuts better.

Not to mention cheaper :p The most recent CF Millie was $180. The first was $130. I have a S110v Native5 in CF on preorder for $190.

Something about that blue G10 that adds to the cost :barf:

Eh I grabbed one. Couldn't pass this up. Well at work today all I could think about is how much I kicked myself in the butt for not getting on the CTS-204P Para 2 preorder. I won't pay a premium on this guy.

Ahh, ok. I was a bit shocked at the price, but I don't know much about this collecting stuff. I guess if people will pay even more than that then that's what it's worth. Nice looking knife anyway. Enjoy.

To be fair, I am pretty sure this is Bento's inflation not Spyderco's. All other Para 2 sprints were obtainable for around $130, other than perhaps the S90V one.. Then Bento gets one and puts it $40 dollars higher. S90V is worth it to me in the Military platform.

Is this a locals only thing? If not, where are you guys picking up these knives, so far my searches are turning up nothing but the "standard" online knife shops.

I don’t understand the controversy on this

Military Blue S90V MSRP: $269.95
Military Standard with DLC MSRP: $269.95

Dealer pricing on both would be 50% off MSRP = $134.98.

The issue now becomes the business model of the dealers. High volume dealers do a 10-15% mark up $161.97 -$175.46 and move a large volume.

BBS is selling at full MSRP and expects to sell at a slower rate.

I am tired of all the sprints / dealer exclusives selling multiple knives to individuals at 10% over cost just to see them flipped by the individuals for 90-100% mark up on the secondary market. The last dealer exclusive CF M390’s sell for $340 + 3% PPF on the exchange and last minutes before being sold.

Bottom line BBS fronted the $134,980.00 to have this knife made, they chose to maximize their return on investment for themselves instead of just making 10-15% and watching the normal flipping frenzy on something they fronted the cash to bring to life. I support BBS on this one, if I invested that kind of cash up front the flippers would piss me off too.

I have almost all of the Military sprints / dealer exclusives (only missing the CF S30V). They are my EDC knives and I do not have any NIB backups for any of them. . I missed the CF M390 preorder window and had to pay $350 on the secondary market. I also missed the BG-42 but lucked in to a NIB one at a local gun show for $225.

I was not going to do this one but all the hate for BBS over this changed my mind, I ordered one Monday. I want BBS to continue to fund nice dealer exclusive knifes in the future and not feel misused by the secondary flipper market.

Amen. I agree with this 100%. I am a free market capitalist to the core. If people are buying them then they apparently aren't priced too high. Having said that, I exercise my right to not give them my business. I simply don't think it is a good value. But if there are enough people who think its worth $300 then more power to the seller. Like BLDR said. If it were MY investment, I would be charging the highest price I could get. However, it should be noted that I'm a bit of an unscrupulous hardass when it comes to business, and that's not always the best recipe for a longterm sustainable business. Makes for some good profits in the short term though. God bless America! ;-).

I get tired of all the whining about flippers/collectors..what other people decide do do with their property is not your concern..

Classic doubbal standard "quit whining about flippers/collectors".. but it is ok to whine about BBS! BBS fronted the $134,980.00 to have this knife made and is holding the same margin as the flippers/collectors EXPECT on the secondary market. every one wants BBS to make 10% so the flippers/collectors can have there 100%!!

I think u missed his point. It's not a rant about flippers. (Edit: actually i just reread it and it kind of is, hehehe, but whatever) I think he's saying that if the knives are selling on the street for $300+ then why isn't the entity that funds their production entitled to make that profit? I kind of have to agree. I think it's a BS insulting price and they may be damaging their long term business reputation, but I will defend to my dying breath their right to charge any price they see fit for their merchandise! If you don't like that, you don't like a free market.

Actually you hit it right this business model zeros out the secondary market on this knife. Additionally it stretches out the window of availability.

I have no issue with the secondary market I have played on both sides before buyer and seller. The recent issues with a green CTS-204P exclusive:

1. Posting for sale on the secondary market while still in transit from the dealer
2. Dealer mass release to the internet of the left over’s without processing people on the “back Up List” first.

Could result in businesses being unwilling to front the funding for an exclusive in the future, why as a business should they front $135,000 to a project and make 10% back. Then watch as the secondary market individuals make 100% on their $160.
