Blue Stag?

Bone is fair game for any color dye-job, I figure. But stag? I don't get it. It would make a lot more sense if the date happened to be 04/01/2011, but it's not. Factor in the mysterious mushroom shield and the Smurf theory is looking like the only answer. Or drugs....

I don't get the shield and while I give them commendation for trying something different, I think the blue is way too intense. Maybe something in a more navy tone would be a bit less off-putting, but I'm not sure even then. :confused:

If they did a scratch and sniff on the stag with a bacon scent, they might have a chance getting them sold.

That happens to be my birthday so that would make sense. My mom always referred to me as her "April Fool".
 
Those are a Special Factory Order (SFO) available through one dealer only, so you can't really blame Case. If you order enough they'll make them for you. They are in business to make money and keep the doors open, what the dealer does with them is up to the dealer. Some one already said it in this thread, but at some point there will be a slug of collectors willing to pay a mint for the "rare blue Stag."

In the mean time wheres the throwing up smilie :D
 
Well nobody asked me nuthin' but imho
if God had wanted blue stag he woulda made blue deer.
Or had them on a blueberries only diet or sumpthin'.

Red stag I've seen has a reddish accent to the stag,
didn't cover it 90% like the blue does on the catalog cover.

I do like blue bone handles....and yes I am aware God didn't
make any blue cows either. Gots to draw the line somewhere.

Blue is my favorite color and I like some of the Case offerings in blue, but this one is ugly as sin IMO. Same for the shield.

I haven't seen much stag from case that I would call especially nice. The stag on the kodiak hunter (referenced above) would be in the running, save they ground half of the surface away during the fitting- and dyed it blue. I'm no fan of the blue stag, but I could be co-opted into one of those intense blue bone handled knives.
 
In recent years Case has (IMO) become a 'whore' to the whims of SFO crap and SMKW has been their latest 'pimp'. I watch 'Knives Live' broadcast on Direct TV, and they have offered some of the most garish variations of
scale/shield combos I've ever seen. They constantly brag about their SFO creations ie. Deer and Turkey-track bone. etc.:barf: They have one pattern
called Alligator Bone that is butt-ugly and several SFO Case designs that have no shield whatsoever with only a laser-etched logo running vertically adjacent to the bolster:jerkit: I realize not everyone is into traditional patterns/colors but some of these offerings are just 'over the top'..!
 
Case may have made the blue stag, heroes of NASCAR blade etches, Elvis commemorative handles, etc. but don't forget they also made the Case/Bose collaboration models and many other classic winners.

I think the blue stag is horrifying, just not necessarily any more so than neon bone.

I have more objection to the blade etch and mushroom shield.

If I squint really hard, I can almost pretend it's a diamond shield. That would make more sense and look better.
