i am not that big of a benchmade fan to begin with. i have bought only two benchmades since i've started collecting. if they wan't to charge their insane MSRP prices, then I WILL NOT be buying a third.

i've bought Benchmade since before they were Benchmade. IF this is true, it sounds like something Kimber or HK would/have pull(ed). hmmm.... i don't own any Kimbers or HK's :D

i'm not offended or angered by it. they can run their business how ever they want, that's the same way i'm going to spend my money. MSRP on my Presidio Fixed Blade is $230 it is NOT a $230 knife. i'll never pay MSRP for BM's. oh well, had a good run :)

Wow...old post.

It's not necessary or required to pay full MSRP on Benchmades...there are online shops like my favorite Knife Works site that give great discounts. I've picked up a few new 2010 models this year and none have been at full price.

I find it funny that people say they will buy ZT knives instead.

ZT knives does the exact same thing with what they allow retailers to advertise for pricing.

This also went into effect at the beginning of the year so everyone has been dealing with it for a while now and it's really not a big deal. I can still get Benchmade for basically the same price as before the change.

It's baaaaack. It's baaaack. The dumbest poll ever. Sounds like the spin polls put out by politicians: "Do you like my candidate or do you like to pimp out your wife?"

Some knife companies are known for having great relationships with the custom makers they collaborate with. Some knife companies are known for the amount of time they're willing to spend trying to assist, educate, and solicit feedback from their end line users. Some companies are known for their integrity and ethics. Some companies are known for their excellent treatment of their business partners.

Sounds like Spyderco to me. !!

Don't buy 'em if you don't want to. More for me and other BM enthusiasts.:D

I haven't paid anywhere near MSRP for any of the Benchmades I've purchased over the last year, haven't paid any more for certain models than I have in the past. Even scored some great deals from a local dealer I frequent more often than I should who appreciates a more level playing field with regards to advertised price.

I'd buy from him instead of an online distributor any day, but that's just me.

Best,

Heekma

Well since this is a necropost from over a year ago, did it ever happen? I haven't paid MSRP for any Benchmade knives.

I do not purchase BM however i support my brethren who spend there hard earned money one BM's, and i feel sorry for the retailers who are getting the shaft. That being said why pay M.S.R.P. when you can get a custom for close to the same price? I think this move will hurt BM in the long run.

I have to pay MSRP every time i order something anyway here in Germany...still a bad move of Benchmade though.

This is what I'm wondering. Online retailers are still selling BM knives for less than MSRP. My local surplus store still has a Mini-Grip in their case with a $90 price tag, which is about MSRP. Has anything at all changed?

Not to get off topic, but what did HK and Kimber do that was so bad? I feel like I'm out of the loop on these business ethics issues...

Good. Now Spyderco can make more money, increase volume, make more money, use even better materials, and keep us all happy.

They should have a feature in the forum software to make the date on a post blink in a bright color if it's over a year old.

definitely wont be getting another benchmade. the mini griptilian is all i need. and it shipped stupidly dull anyways.
