I'm in the same exact situation as you. Besides the M390 part, I got a drawer full of it :thumbup:.

Wow, baton and pry M4 710? Are you serious? Keep it safe, and get fixed blade in the woods :). 810 also has regular CPM-M4. I would keep limited production of 710, if I were in your shoe.

After about 6 months of EDC. Tried to get the picture to show wear on spine from batoning. I don't do a lot of it, but the M4 has handled it just fine.

I actually have an 810 as well as Busses that I use for heavier tasks.

Yup. Nice 710 LE. I'll keep it and use 710-1401.

When I preordered the S90v Manix XL from them, I ordered and didn't think anything of it. However this time, I'm getting really antsy to get this 710. When I got my first 710, I said this would be my absolute perfect knife if it had better steel (m390) and scales with more character. This hit the nail perfectly.

I said the same thing about the Conte go, and they delivered. The Rift would be perfect with just a better blade steel. I can make blue/black scales on my own with a $3 bottle of RIT dye.
 
I kicked my self in the butt for not getting the last M390 710. I prefer ~3" folders, but really wanted M390. Lucked up and purchased a 707-1201, so now that the 710-1401 is coming I'm again at a cross road. I fear I will wait too long and regret not picking one up. What say the wise forum?
 
I have the 710 on pre order as well, but I can't decide between the m390 810 or 710... I think I would prefer the size of the 710, but the shape of the 810...

My worry is regarding the tip strength of the 710, that is about the only concern.
Any input is welcomed.

Tip is fairly stout, depends on the application. The swedge may make it decieving, far more robust than a Millie or Para. Blade steel itself may be a bigger factor as I would think M4, M2 or D2 would hold lateral force more than M390.

No pry,.. no cry.
 
Well, I will most likely be keeping the pre order of the 710, to be safe. If I find myself weary of it, maybe I'll sell to fund or I may be able to find someone to trade for an 810 :rolleyes:
 
KnifeWorks is shipping the first batch of 250 of them by Friday, August 22nd and they still have some left!

I asked KnifeWorks and they said: "All pre orders are shipped based on earliest order dates."
 
They also said, as of Tues, they had around 217 pre orders. They do not expect anybody that had pre ordered prior to 8/12/14, to not be included in the first batch of customer deliveries, they also were not able to say when they would be shipping.
That is Not to say that if you order soon, that you will not make it into the first batch. I didn't ask about further orders because I already had mine ordered.
