Oh my god, is that a 710 with decent blade centering?! They really must paid attention to these. Also, is it just me or do the swedges look very uneven?
Benchmade seems to have corrected some QC issues present in the 810-1401 and 940-1 that I have.
Good eye on the swedges! I just checked and they're definitely not symmetrical on mine!
Other than the uneven swedge there's another issue on mine. If you run your finger from the bottom up it will catch the tip of the blade so be careful not to cut yourself.
I compared my new 710-1401 against my 710SBKD2. The 710SBKD2 does not have any of these two issues.
May have to send mine in but it'll mean being without one until the next batch comes out. I'll contact KnifeWorks to see if they have any spares left because I know they ran out of the first batch. The swedge issue means at least a blade replacement.
I'm curious to find out if others have any of these two issues.
The false edge on the spine (opposite of the blade) is ground uneven on the area where the material is removed by the tip.
Top left side of blade. I also took this to show the grind marks that people habe been referring to in previous posts, for those who did not pre order, or haven't received theirs yet.![]()
I got rid of my Southard because of the protruding tip issue. I hope this one is not the same.I have the same two issues. My swedge is not too bad and I can live with that. When the knife is closed though, just a bit of throw tip pokes through. Not sure what I want to do since this is knife is one of the smoothest I've ever gotten, and I have a lot.

Have to wait extra week because I live in Canada, but based on these reviews, now I'm not so exited.
I can live with the uneven swedge, but not the protruding tip.
Cheers
Thanks for that.I'd keep your excitement up. I received what I consider to be a perfect specimen, and I am very particular. I can tell already that this one will stay one of my favorites.
