Boar Hunt Photos And Story

Great story! Starts out taking out a boar and ends up taking out a bore. :D
I'm going to move it to W&SS. I know a few of the guys there will like it.

"Wilderness and Survival Skills"

Wilderness skills include hunting and fishing, not just nature hiking.

You got that right BCCL! Hell, if someone plays frisbee in the woods, that's a wilderness skill. And you can post about it here. (Damn hard to avoid hitting the trees I tellya! Takes lots of practice...)

I have always wanted to try that but I think I am too old now. hat do you guys wear? I kinda thought a welders jacket or something tough like that would be good, and what about gloves?

You and your boy did good!

great stuff bill... i have some friends that have boar hunted with knives in the past, they loved every minute of it...:D those smaller pigs taste the best...

Great pics and great knives Bill !

Have you thought of joining photobucket though as those slideshow links don't work very well for me and take ages....I'm always a little too eager and just want to scroll down the post to see the pics !!!!

Wow! I've butchered domestic hogs, but always shot them first. Did you eat it? I've heard that wild boar is really good, always wanted to try it!

I forgot to mention, in today's PC/wussified/give-me-the-remote environment, it's nice to see a kid who has a pair - of knives! :D

Nice pics and thread Bill! Good to see a father taking an interest in his son!!

I want to go boar hunting like this someday. I've seen it before, but never gotten the chance to participate.

I bet it is intimidating!

Nice knife too!

Good story and photos. We live on a 1,000 acre farm and constantly had trouble with hogs rooting up our peanut fields. If you don't know, hogs can make a field of crops look like a bulldozer ran through it! I used to take my two boys with me to catch hogs. We used Catahoulas, Blackmouths to bay and usually used a couple of American Bulldogs to catch. The older ones usually got stuck with my great grandfathers old Confederate bayonet. We would tie the younger ones up and bar them. Feed them out and butcher them. Always good meat for the table! The hogs got to be so plentiful, that we finally just started shooting them. We would give the meat to friends and the local food bank. We finally got rid of them, but hog hunting is one of the most exciting types of hunting, also one of the most dangerous. I have a scar on my inner shin where one got me, it required 17 stitches to close. Looks like a razor cut me! Once again, great story!

Cool pics Doc! I also have wanted to try it. I can only imagine the rush you get from going face to face with a boar. Congrats to Blade on a great job.
