Bob Dozier Knives?

There a few on eBay right now. Just a heads up. None of them are mine.

If they were, they wouldn't be on eBay. ;)

Damn... how'd that happen?

I would like to know as well. Bob's knives excel at cutting and slicing and do so as well as any other knives I have ever used. They are not pry bars or choppers though.

Guide,
If you like Doziers you might also want to take a look at the work of Dan Crotts. He is Bob's stepson and puts out some great knives under his own name in additon to working in the Dozier shop. Last I checked he also has a considerably shorter lead time on orders.

Hey Oregon Knife Guy, do you have any more pictures of k-19, particularly of the top swedge. Is it a handle heavy knife? Would it be a good edc size? Also, looking at the ks-3, what's the difference between more expensive wilderness and regular sheaths. Thanks.

Her'es the Dozier sheath page http://www.dozierknives.com/sheath.html

The Wilderness sheath is Kydex with a standoff in back to which the nylon strap is attached, so it swings pretty freely away from your side. The KS-3 is listed with his B sheath: vertical, worn on belt, which would be a fixed attachment, not a dangler.

I think though that you can get any style sheath for any of his knives. For example, the Canoe is listed with an A sheath, which is a canted belt sheath, but I bought mine from him at a NY show with the G thumb release neck sheath.

Rookie4real~The K-19 is a very well balanced knife. No, the handle is not noticeably heavy. As far as the K-19 for EDC, personally I would say not great for that, it is a bit large for EDC and the blade is so perfect for skinning and working animals, I don't use that one except for hunting. But that is my personal opinion. The two Doziers I use right now as EDC are the Whittler and the Reverse Tanto. The whittler is smaller, so you carry it unnoticed. The Tanto is a bit heavier so you tend to know its there. I am ordering an arkansas traveler though. You should check out agrussell.com and get a whittler, great little knife. The wilderness sheath is really nice, but it does drop the knife a little low for most uses. If you are in the woods, it is great, but if you want to carry it concealed, the regular sheath is really nice. I don't have the wilderness for my KS-3. When I carry that knife in the woods, I usually have a custom (friend made) leather sheath with the metal match attached. The wilderness sheath does have a great thumb release of the knife for one handed pulls.

Moose Drool~ Of the Yukon and the Pro Skinner, I would say they are both pretty equal. It really comes down to if you like the finger groves on the K-19. Most of Bob's knives are really comfortable to the medium sized hands. I have to say, they are both great knives, but if you are looking for and EDC between the two, the Yukon is probably better... Thats my two cents.

Are either of you two going to Blade West this year? Alicia at the Dozier shop said that they are going to have a small table there for the first time.

Thanks Oregon Knife Guy. I want to get a Dozier to add to my edc rotation. I don't mind if a knife is a little on a large side as I usually carry a smaller folder in addition to a fixed blade. I narrowed my search down to the following models: KS-1, K-2, K-11, K-10, Master Hunter, Delta Traveler. I would get whichever one I can find first, as they hard to find at the dealers.

The easiest way I've found is to put in calls to both Dozier's shop and Vintage Knives. They often have something available that doesn't hit the web page, or will give you first dibs. The K2 and Delta Traveler are my favorites.

I will be attending Blade West. I have spoken with Alicia about this about a month ago. I am very excited. Should be fun to see that many Doziers at one time. Although I may have to leave my wallet at home otherwise my fiance would kill me! I already have 4 on order!!!
