I've been training hard and every morning when my muscles burn I know I have been doing a good job.

I've been training hard and every morning when my muscles burn I know I have been doing a good job.

Its a beautiful thing.

I finish up with some classes I was taking here in the next few weeks, this will free up the schedule substancially. I plan on really focusing hard this summer on some positive gains in weight. I would like to get up to 210-215 with a low bf; we will see.

I completely forgot when this contest ends, I believe it was the first of a month and I think it may have been May, yes I know if that's the case then I'm a day late, but I've barely been able to keep up with the day of the week much less the actual date for the past few days, my work out for the past week have consisted of work. I know pretty pitiful on my part, but when I come in after spending a day doing landscaping or remodeling it usually feels like a good work out and (about) the only thing I have on my mind is sleep. I'm going to do a PT test right now to see how close to my goals I can come, it's late and I'm wore out so I'll just time my run tomorrow.

Edit to add the results:
Push-ups: failed, my goal is to be able to do 45 army style push-ups in two minutes or less, knowing that I can't do 45 straight (I can get into the thirties but after that arms go to jello) I just did two set of 25's with a short break in between, to combined time for those 50 push-ups was a little under 1:50.

Sit-ups: failed, my goal was 53 in two minutes. All I can say is army style sit ups suck, in that particular form you have to lay down with your butt almost touching your heels and when you come up your shoulder must be over your butt to count, also it is not recommend to drink anything before you begin, otherwise the hole time your doing sit-ups you can feel the liquid tumbling around in your belly I came up just short of my goal with 45 sit-ups in two minutes.

Good lifts, your form looks tight.

Thanks:) But my form needs a lot of work, I hadn't gone over 380 before so my back did more rounding than I wanted. Hopefully the belt will keep me from injury.

hwpaint: Are you going in the army?

Paintballer, thats awesome man, do you lift weights as well, or do you do only body weight excersises?
Tblock-most impressive, liftn is great isnt it! Careful bro, I know at your age injuries arent on the radar too much, but they happen fast liftin big weight. And when they do, it takes months of recovery. I hurt my elbow a couple months ago, it was almost healed, then I started taking Krav classes and I ruined it again hittin the bag. Totally blows.

I got every intention to, I'm trying for an Army ROTC scholarship so I can attend college and then commission in as a 2nd Lt., the Army decided to change how they handed out scholarships this year, and instead of knowing by pre-Christmas I was told today that I should know by May 10th, I meet and exceeded the qualifications (Academically: 26 ACT and a 96 ASVAB score, you need 21 ACT to apply for an Army ROTC scholarship and a 30-ish ASVAB to enlist I believe, Atheletically: I had played a couple years of soccer, last year I did tennis. and this year I did cross country and tennis)

If I do earn an Army ROTC scholarship then come fall I have to pass a PT test to start earning a monthly stiphon and to be able to contract, the PT test minimum is 45 push-ups in two minutes, 53 sit-ups in two minutes, and a 2 mile run in 15:45

I just did the two miler today after tennis practice and I got 16-17 minutes.
So I got to shave off 1:30 on my run, get 8 more sit-ups, and keep up with the push-ups and by August I hope to not only meet the minimum but exceed it.

Definately, if you wind up enlisting it makes life 10x easier if you ship being able to max out the PT score. I lost my seasonal northwoods insulation, as of this week my sixpack is back. Pecs are looking spectacular as ever though my shoulders, back and lats could use some tuning up. Getting back in shape with arthiritis now in the picture can be tough but I'm doin about 45 minutes a day between my cals card game, planks etc and my rounded edges have started looking more sharp.

Very brief update:
I weighed in at 217 pounds a few minutes ago, using the same scale I always do. I've put about 9%-12% more on the weights, so my strength is improving. My cardio sessions are lasting longer, and I'll run the qualification standards tomorrow for myself so I have some concrete numbers.

Cool I got a 4 year rotc scholarship myself. The school also agreed to pay for room and board so I won't have to pay a dime, matter of fact I will make money for the stipend they give me. However I have always wanted to go in the Army rangers or some spec ops, I just love physical fitness and that kind of comraderie and all. I'm seriously looking at enlisting with my option 40 for rangers, but everyone is telling me to take the rotc, but I don't want to give up my dream....

Long time no post -
still losing weight, but due to the problems with my joints all excercise safe walking and cycling at low intensity had to go. I'm still in the process of getting a diagnosis, but doctors suspect some form of rheumatism and I will be able to see a specialist next month (and here I was, thinking at least getting a diagnosis should be easy ...)

So losing has slowed down (to a point where it is annoyingly slow), but goes on and I probably need to adjust (i.e. lower) my goal weight to help my joints ...

Lucky, I really feel for ya, I'm undergoing a pretty serious steroid treatment right now for my joint pain, I feel grinding everywhere from my elbows while doing pushups to my hands when writing my name. It really sucks, you can have all the muscle tone in the world yet still feel like a creaky old man. Tblock, I'm not sure about the Army but I know the Air Force has a SpecOps program for ROTC grads, called CROs, or Combat Rescue Officers. Maybe you can do both, go through Rangers School and get your bars.

Just thought I'd share a little update. I had my first physical therapy session earlier today, and the guy gave me a list of about eight different exorcises to work on. They pretty much all just work the legs with things I've got around the house. Leg raise while laying on my back with some 5 pound ankle weights, hip abduction while laying on my side, terminal knee extensions, quarter squats (which I did while wearing my chainmaille shirt that weighs about 30 pounds), step ups, and lunges. I get to do these two times a day, and it should help out within a month or so. We'll see!

Thanks!

Ug I hope your knees are fine because quarter squats place a ton of stress on the knees, although you should be fine with 30 pounds. Do them to at least parallel if you can!

The goal of all the exercises is to get my quads to even out. Presently, the outer muscles are a lot stronger than the inner. So, he's having me do some motions that are just the final 20-30 degrees of motion, which uses that muscle. But yeah, I did them all earlier with actual weight, and holy crap those muscles are weak. The five pound weight feels like a lot after about 15 reps. I'll keep you guys updated on all the PT stuff, too.

Where I'm at now.

This is a belt that I got mind February if I remember correctly. My last belt looked very similar to this one. In fact, I just had to poke another hole in it yesterday.

My pants don't fit. And these are already a step down from where I started at. This are 36" waists, and I used to wear 38-40".

It's nice having some muscle definition. Ignore the tan line. I was pulling rose bushes out at my mothers house the other day (which royally sucks, by the way.)

I'll get an official weight in the morning. But, i've been sitting around 185-190 depending on how I eat (AKA, if I go to Six Flags Elitch Gardens and eat a sundae funnel cake, but It was amazing.)

I've come a long way since I've started, and I'm still not done yet. I'm trying to get into fighting shape so I can do some Muay Thai bouts sometime. Also, this is a great thing for me to do if I plan on going into law enforcement or military service.

Thanks for running the contest!
