Boker Plus Exskelibur I (Ti Frame lock)

What a great review. I went ahead and purchased the Decade Ex 1 based on everything I've read here. It's very nice in person and I'm having fun learning to use the front flipper.

However the blade is off-center to the presentation side. Not rubbing but still off. I didn't get the pivot tool in my box either. Do you think there will be any long term issue if I leave it like that or should I contact Boker to resolve it?

Thank you alinla for the comment.
I guess it would be OK to leave the blade off-centered, if it stays there.
But you would eventually need the tool for adjustment.
Take a look at the following post.

If you have the tool, you should be able to adjust the blade centering.
My two Exskeliburs came off-centered, but I was able to make them dead-center.

I didn't know they had made a frame-lock version of this knife. It looks even better this way, I think.

The fit and finish aren't at the level of Spyderco or ZT.
But the blade and the grind is really great.

Awe crap! This knife (in some variation), has been on my wish list for quite some time. But no thanks to this thread and videos, I think it will have to move way up the list to the near future. Crap, I hate it when that happens. [emoji51][emoji56][emoji41]

Right!:D:D:D

I agree completely with your review, Miso. I lucked out and got a perfectly centered Ti exskelibur. I dont know if it was because I ordered one of the first and they sent me one that was dead center. All the exskelibur series from boker come with garbage hardware in my opinion, and I actually had to order a new pivot for my decade due to a bad pivot before I sold it. If the hardware was replaced with upgraded materials, these knives would be perfect, hence why I have owned the decade, olive would, and now the Ti. How my Ti sits right now makes it one of my favorite knives to carry, especially when I wear dressier clothes that will "print" more. Excellent review.

Thank you for the comment, Sarge930.
You have said it better than I could have.
It is (actually they are, because I have two now) my favorite as well because of its blade and the grind.

Today I measured the thickness at the halfway of the blade full width.
Since the blade width is 1", this means the thickness at 0.5" from the edge.
The thickness was 0.04" there.......

For a comparison, my GEC #73 has a 0.6" wide blade, and the blade stock is 0.09" thick.
At 0.5" from the edge (0.1" from the spine), it is still about 0.07" thick.
No wonder why the Exskelibur blade outperformed my GEC......

Because of this review I came sooooo close to grabbing one when I was on vacation last weekend. If it wasn't so overpriced...still kinda regret it, tough...

Armadew,

It is difficult to say if it is overpriced for me.
The blade, the grind, and actually the steel are so great that I can just pay the price for them (S35VN on this one performs really well and better than that on Umnumzaan to some extent).
The other parts (hardware, fit and finish) of the knife seem less worth than what you would expect for a $120 knife.
But overall, I am really happy with having two of the Ti Exskelibur in hand.

You should take the final baby step to grab one for yourself:D

Ah, no. I should clarify...I was on holiday in Lugano and the shop had everything at a ridiculous price. I don't have a problem with the price in general. :)

I would love to have the small Ti model if only it were a front-flipper like all the previous small versions of the Boker Exskeliburs.

What in the world was Boker thinking in making its best Exskelibur II a nail-nic version?

My guess is that it is too thin and too small to be an efficient front-flipper.
Previous models had at least thicker handles.
But still they could have left that option......

Disassembled.

This was my first knife with teflon (or nylon?) washers.
I was a bit anxious about their operation and durability.
Although I cannot tell anything about the durability yet, the operation is very good.
The opening is as buttery as my Umnumzaan.

I learned that the author of "The Tactical Folding Knife", knifemaker Bob Terzuola, speaks highly of teflon or nyatlon washers.
This relieves some of my worries on the durability.

A few more comparisons with two Ti frame lock folders, Southard Told and Umnumzaan.

Hope you can appreciate the very simple construction of Exskelibur.
The lock bar is much thinner than the two more robust folders compared here, but is as thick as a liner of Spyderco GB1, i.e. not really flimsy.

And a nice photo I got recently.

Miso,

Would you please measure the spacing between the clip screws (just left and right)? While the blue anodized clip is really quite nice, I am wondering if I can swap it out to a deeper carry clip? That said, the screws look smaller than the usual 2-56 too.

Sure thing, foofie.
I will do it tonight and post the measurements.

OK, foofie.

Here is my measurements.
Let me know if you want me to measure other parts.
