Boker Trance - Very dissapointed.

Did you even read my original post? I didn't say not to buy it I just said don't expect more than a $25 knife for $25. I posted proof as to what happened and why and I am unwilling to engage Boker because its not worth the time and hastle. I am sure their warranty department (which I never said a thing about) is great. I am just saying I bought a knife for $25 and expected a $50 knife after reading all the glowing reviews here and it simply is not a $50 blade.

Again...you're basing your entire opinion on one bad knife. What if you received a replacement and it performed as well as others here have indicated?

How hard can it be to just drop them an e-mail with a few words explaining the problem you have ?

You never know they might surprise you.

It would probably have been less "time and hastle" than it was to post here.

Boker WILL take care of this matter.
You're not Trolling, are you??

Just forget it. Honestly, hat possible reason would I have to troll? From now on i'll realize that reviews posted on this site must be biased because if someone posts a negative one they get grilled.

Boker is the greatest, the knife is the greatest, and I have no complaints. Now is everyone happy?

Send it back to Boker. Their Customer Service worked great for me. Turn around time was just about 3 weeks.

No one is grilling you for having negative things to say.
Its just that the problem your having is easily fixed but you cant be bothered to do anything about it.
But you can be bothered to post here about it.

I have a problem with the (insert item) that I'v only had for a week.
I can't be bothered to contact (Insert company) about the problem but this will be my last (insert item) because they must all be rubbish.

You are wrong. Biased reviews are worthless. Nobody gave you a hard time about your issue with your knife. Everyone agreed something isn't right with your knife.

I have a brand new Trance still in the box. I'll send it to you, it's yours. Perform the same tasks you did with your Trance and let's see what happens. That cool with you?

If so, email me your address and I'll it off to you ASAP.

obviously he is trolling, having provided pictures of the damage. your photoshop skills are amazing, and the Trance outperforms the XM-18

I say, it only takes one bad experience, and you don't have any obligation to Boker or anyone here. You want to complain cause you got a lemon? Go right ahead, I don't think we have thought police just yet.

I think the issue here is one of basic courtesy.

I have reviewed a lot of knives. I have interacted with a lot of knife manufacturers. Most of those experiences were good. One or two of those experiences were bad (I can think of one in particular who really pissed me off, and it had nothing to do with the knives themselves). The one thing all my reviews have in common, however, is that I don't review a knife specifically to stick it to the manufacturer.

If I have a negative experience with a product, whether I bought that product or whether it was sent to me for a write-up (as sometimes happens), I always give the manufacturer a chance to respond. That response could be a simple explanation of what happened, or it could go so far as to be a repair or replacement of the knife. That response is then incorporated into the review, because we all experience quality control issues or flat out mistakes from time to time, and how a company handles these goes a long way towards establishing for the reader whether that company is worth buying from.

If you buy a knife, have a bad experience, get mad, and post that experience here, you've done nothing wrong. You have, however, failed to give the company a chance to make it right before getting all upset, and that's a bit rude. It would be more courteous simply to give them that opportunity.

Aarong50,
I am sorry you had a bad experience with your Trance.
If you want to contact me to work it out, my email is repair@bokerusa.com,
or my phone number is 800-992-6537 ext. 21

As has been stated here in this thread, with any production knife, there will be some issues, which is why we, and other knife, companies have a warranty. I cannot help you until you contact us, or send the knife in.
Take that step, and we will do what we can to make it right.
Thanks, Terry

P.S. Thanks Morrow, for the heads up.

Thank you for the offer. I realize you guys have good support and service and I am not knocking you for anything like that. I just wanted to post what happened to my knife. I have no doubt I could have contacted you for a replacement and you would oblige but I am simply not interested. It isn't worth my time (and chatting on a message board is my time I know) to send the knife back. Its only $25 and I can live with it for what it is. I will use it until it breaks down completely then I will throw it away.

Not worth your time? Ah, a very busy troll.

Oh boy, I' m sorry you' re so disappointed by your Trance, I love mine.
Never had a single chip(and I' ve used it quite hard), and never had any problems with the lock-up, it' s actually pretty much my most carried knife:eek:

The customer service rep offered to make it right and you turned him down because it "isn't worth my time", yet you have spent the time to take and post multiple photos, then reply to several posts in the thread.

Did your time suddenly become too valuable to use boxing up a knife and mailing it AFTER you did all that work?

You are entitled to your opinions and it sucks that you got a bum product, but I'm perplexed why you would turn down an offer to make it right. Heck, the Boker guy might even send you a new one without requiring you to send the old one back just to earn your goodwill.

If he doesn't want it, my Trance has been looking..ehm..strange lately. And it makes weird noises...I think it has to be replaced...:D

What exactly was your intention by starting this thread, aarong50? You got a lemon of a usually great performing knife and you just want to say that it sucks? What is the point in stating that a knife has failed but not wanting the company to fix it? You wanted to inform us? It didn't hit anyone by surprise that some bad knives slip through QC. This is normal in a world of mass production, and even high-quality companies experience this kind of thing.

It's not worth $5 on your next trip to the Post Office? Oh my...

What you're implying is that you'd rather just bash the knife. That, to you, is worth more than allowing Boker to try and let you experience the "$50 knife" you're missing.

Where's that beating-its-head-against-a-wall smiley when I need it?

morrowj_98, send that Trance to someone who cares... ME!!! :D

On a side note, it's heartening to see Sharp Phil giving courtesy lessons nowadays. :p :D

Another satisfied Boker Trance (and Wharcom) owner here. No issues with mine yet, and I have confidence Boker will take care of any problems that might arise. I do definitely consider it a bargain for $25.

I was going to EDC and use it that way but I think im just gonna use it as my go-to beater. Its still sharp but the blade is just soo brittle.

Your going to use it as your go to beater? After you stated that you had problems with the locking mechanism? You must know very little about knives.
A go to beater should have a really good locking system. Not one that has failed on you. My fingers are worth more than a $25 knife.
