Book of Eli (knife)

BOE - better than most out lately IMO. Lots of really bad movies floating around. At least on netflix I can stop watching it and pick another. I really like Jeff Imada's work on the fight scenes.

What I do not get is when people say it was not believable. I mean the guy was being led and watched over by God. If you can buy that much then every thing else is not such a big stretch. If God wants him to have 20 rounds in a 13 round mag then he gets 20 rounds in a 13 round mag. :D

Paranormal Activity: Just painful. People kept telling me it gets good. But 45 min into it I'm thinking, "Can I just pay for the good part then?"

A Boy and His Dog - just fun. Great ending.

I pretend that he wasnt actually blind in the whole movie, otherwise it just ruins it for me :p

I just made a sheath for a guy that had a blade very similar to Eli's blade. Its called a "Jungle Master" or something. Can be had for like $15. Yet for such a cheap blade he still wanted a custom sheath made....

As for Paranormal Activity....I cannot believe how highly rated it was. Complete waste of money, I think I was laughing more at the people screaming than actually watching the movie. I am very dissapointed in the majority of America that had high reviews of that useless cinematic crap :jerkit:

This forum is laced with survival-minded people. So, when you start realizing a blind guy in The Book of Eli is nailing people with a handgun from a fair distance for a guy that would not be practicing regularly and ditto for a shorty shotgun loaded with buckshot, you tend to get your ass up on your back.

Likewise, The Road, it was slow. It was depressing.

But most people that think these films are terrible are being terrible critics.

I really liked The Book of Eli not because it was super-realistic. Although it was a kick to see a real firestarting device being used in a movie. The reason I liked it was because it beat home a theme that I have embraced for years and which drove me from churches years ago.

The Bible is a wonderful concept. And it has been used as a license to enslave, rape, rob, pillage and murder by the human debris of mankind (GOD WILLS IT! ALLAH WILLS IT!) for a few thousand years now. That battle, which is hardly, if ever, highlighted in a movie, was great to see for once. Gary Oldman's character was a total piece of Jim Jones-laden shit.

The Book of Eli, in my opinion, was a great movie because it told that truth and that truth has only been highlighted in Scott's "Kingdom of Heaven" as of late.

The Road was a love story between a guy who knows it is the end of the world and his young son.

Everyone thinks they're going to be John Rambo in some situation like that. Everyone also thinks that end of the world movies should not really be the end of the world.

I dunno, I think most of the people in this thread who don't like the movies were just expecting something else. I don't get it. :)

Paranormal Activity, on the other hand, was supposed to be this crazy-horror flick and it was just stupid. I have been in outhouses in Kentucky that were more frightening. :D

I didn't even know he was blind and didn't count how many rounds he was shooting before reloading and STILL thought it was a pice of shit movie. It's got nothing to do with being realistic, it has everything to do with being a sorry damn movie that was absolutely a waste of time to watch. Hell, I would MUCH rather watch re-runs of Wiley Coyote and Foghorn Leghorn than this shit.

The Road sucked. Moral of that story? Women will quit when the going gets tough and go even crazier than they were when you married them. Anyone noticing a pattern here? Hope my wife doesn't read this. :D

Power of God. Same thing that kept him alive after being shot, and kept him alive...walking...with little food and water. And what made every bullet hit every bad guy.

Hell, while I'm at it, I liked the movie!:D

That's what it was about. Decent movie to me. Just a movie. I watched at home drinking beer on a boring day. But that why I don't go to the theaters much cuz most moves suck. But at home on Bluray not so bad

OK, I get that. But what made it so damned terrible? I get what you're saying, I just don't see why you hated it so much.

I mean, you can just choose to hate the damned thing, I just don't understand such a visceral reaction to that particular story.

HOLY SHIT! I could say that about 98% of the movies I have watched in all of my life. :D

I figured BoE would be the typical post apocalyptic mad max style film. If I wanted to watch something with depth, I would watch "Inception" or "The Usual Suspects".

Couple of films that really enjoyed that you might not know about...

1. Seraphim Falls
2. Suicide Kings
3. Memento

Taken was the bomb as well!

memento is the shit, not something you can half-assed pay attention to though, you definitely gotta follow that one all the way through

Goodfellas was an excellent movie.

Boondock Saints?

Really?

It became one of those movies that was so iconic but I thought that one was a real tud. A tud is a turd that is so bad it doesn't deserve to have the "r" in it. :D

I really liked "Body of Lies" and "Blood Diamond." I used to despise Leonardo DiCaprio but he has really become one of the better actors.

Think about it. The whole plot is to haul a braille version of the bible to be printed. Damn, I could have written a better plot and storyline in 10 minutes on my Mac.

Goodfellas was based on the true story of Henry Hill's life. Excellent story and movie.

The Road - I couldn't watch it all the way through the first time. I have three kids and one is a boy about the same age as the one in the movie so I kept picturing us in that situation. I can handle my self pretty good but that doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot in that kind of situation, especially with a little one. Ya.. very depressing. I'll stick with Carpenter's "The Thing" thank you very much.

Yeah, that is the baseline of the plot, it's what develops from that, that is interesting to me.

Yes it was and he was one crazy bastard! :D

You ever watch "Casino?" Same guy that was involved with Scorcese on Goodfellas dug up another group of gangsters to write about and most of "Casino" actually happened in real life as well.
