Hey guys,
I don't post too often, but this is a subject that I can relate to!!!!
I have worked on the pipeline for the past 20 years. Mostly on large, federally funded sewer projects for local municipalities in Virginia an West Virginia. This includes a lot of "rehab" projects. Waterproof takes on a whole new meaning when you are standing in sewer, trust me.
I wore Rocky boots for a number of years until I had a problem with a pair and actually contacted them about it. I only had the boots for about a month and the soles started to bust open like a "bloomin' onion." The lady in customer support informed me that the PVC soles on that particular boot tended to do that when exposed to excessive moisture and that I should have purchased a more expensive model with a rubber sole. I quickly, informed her that if I spent the money that I earned "standing in crap" on a waterproof boot that fell apart when it got wet I would not be "upgrading" or purchasing any more of their boots. Nuff said!!!
As far as what I like, I am currently sold on Danners. The made in the USA models are not cheap, but worth every penny. As for comfort, I have a wide foot, and wear a 12EE, but I am sure that a size that "fits" you would not require any break in, same as mine.
Good luck with the boots. The search is just as hard as finding the right woman. Although, a wrong choice won't cost you more than a couple hundred and sore feet. Wait, I have had women that fit that description, also!!!!! OK, If you pick the wrong boot you won't have to hire a lawyer and will only be out the initial investment.
Good luck!!
Randy
