Bose Knives

Ok..No joke this is some info on the T. Bose and Case Collaboration for 2008:

Only 1000 total pieces will be made five different handle materials

100 - Abalone
100 - Mother of Peal
200 - Ebony
300 - Antique bone
300 - Chestnut bone

Each Case dealer will only be given a few to sell depending on their level with Case. Most the time they sell out before they ever come in.

Good luck!

I look at the Case/Bose collaborations as a way to get me through the long periods between Bose acquisitions. Kind of like drinking a good Glenlivet if I can't buy one of my preferred malt whiskies.

The ones that I have handled are as good as any production knife gets, as far as I could tell.

Meanwhile, back to some knives....this T.Bose Ivory Coke Bottle was shot with available light at the WWorks on Tony's bench over a year ago. Patterned after the Challenge Cut. Co. knife it is pictured with, this was the pattern used for the 2007 Case collab swing guard. Big buttah knife, huh Ashley?!:D QUOTE]

Kerry....that is some unda cova buttah from a notha motha :D I prefer the home grown Bose buttah but it is still a beautiful knife! I don't think I have seen any buttah out of Case, other than their collaboration knives with Tony. Ivory is probably one of my favorite handle materials. I love the consistancy (color) in the material. But I would probably say that it is a toss up between ivory and ebony as being an absolute favorite.

Does T. Bose or R. Bose even use ebony? What would you say is their most commonly used material? I would probably quess stag, but I am very new to the cult and still a newbie, so please guide me!! :D Stag is continually growing on me....there was a knife that I fell in love with at the Blade Show in someones collection that was made from a very rigid stag material, and I would have to say it was sweet. It was a small knife, and I am thinking it may have been either a sway back or something similar. That is probably the first time I have ever taken a second look at a knife made out of stag. I am going to look back through the pictures on the post to see if I have seen it here.

Thanks guys!
Ashley

I was expecting something coming my way in the mail but did not have any idea what it was. Can you imagine the look on my face when I opened the box and saw the the words, T. Bose - Wilford IN?
I do have a shadow pattern by Reese (The Pup;)) but have never had the privilege CE/CF'ing one by Tony (The Old Dog). About 7 inches long, ATS-34, and I will guess ebony.
The knife is not mine. A high level Bose-Ho was passing it around a little, giving a few of us the chance to drool a little. Pretty nice gesture, eh?
A couple of pictures I took. The second is on the corner of my desk in the Paul Long sheath.

Well, it's a PURE-D T.Bose Coke Bottle yer lookin at there...so it's good to go.;)

Good stag on a knife is hard to beat. I have seen some so-so stag on production knives so maybe that is what you are more familiar with. The way they haft stag at Wilfred Works is top drawer stuff. If the stag is crappy, it don't go on...period! :)

I don't know if anyone has ever put numbers or percentages on the amount of handle materials the guys use. Reese makes more shadow pattern knives with micarta than Tony does, so his numbers would be different. Also, I have seen more MOP knives from Reese. I would make a mostly unscientific guess something like this:

Reese - 40% Stag , 30% Bone, 20% Micarta, 10% MOP/Ivory
Tony - 50% Stag, 25% Bone, 20% Ivory, 5% Other (including MOP,Micarta, etc)

Oh, that is just beautiful! I love the desk knife. I saw that knife in someones collection at the show, and just fell in love! It is just a great looking knife. Did Tony make that sheath? Absolutely Stunning!!

Ashley...there's your answer about ebony. :) Also, there was a mighty fine ebony cotton sampler on the Bose table at Blade that I just so happened to get drawn for. Sweet!

Ashley...hon...I don't know how to say this other than...a Paul Long sheath means that it was made by...uh...Paul Long :D

Thanks for the quick response Kerry. I was thinking that it was mostly stag that they work with. I will have to be more observant when it comes to their stag knives. You are most definitly right when you say that the stag on the manufactures knives are not as nice.

Thompson-Just realized that you said who made the sheath. I was so excited looking at the pic, I had a blonde moment. I am currently wiping the drool from my chin!

Does Tony or Reese give tours of their facility? I have seen the pics on their website, but I think he should start an actual tour :) I would be first in line!

I am just simply stating the fact that I was so impressed with the knife, that I didn't even read the rest of the post! I was too busy looking at the knife! I promise I will keep the blonde moments to a minimum! Oh and by the way, I am an alburn kinda gal....

While I take a break from pickin on Ashley:p, take a look at the BoseKnives.com home page.

I added a news link on the front page, top right, you'll see a link and an image for the Case press release about the Blade Collaboration of the Year Award

Yes he does, Sheila, and you know what? This is the first time Case/Bose has won the award so this is a pretty big deal for all involved.

I'm surprised the lockback whittler didn't take it

Congrats Tony, just the same.It sure was an honor to meet in person.I love your knives!
