Bose Knives

Giveaway and tribute to “CNasty”

I apologize ahead of time if you didn’t know but, this is one of those things that one never likes to do but feel like you want to do something. I recently found out that my friend Campbell Steele (cnas122) suddenly passed away this past July.

Prior to this, we were messaging and in the course of those messages he shared images of his knives and we reminisced and had stories about the knives from WilfredWorks.

He said he lost one(told me which one it was) and that It got misplaced in a recent move. Of course he was excited when he found it and sent me a pic of it in hand.

The conversation continued and he was going to send it to me so that I could copy it. He never got around to doing it but I did get a good close up profile pic good enough to scale it and make a pattern.

Now we are at the giveaway part. I like the quirky OldDog stories and this is one for the books. I don’t know the full story but I know enough to be dangerous. I think the originals were a small batch and not very many were made. I made a couple of them and will give one away here to the first person that can tell us two things:
  1. What was the official WilfredWorks name of this knife?
  2. What is the back story behind why Tony made this particular “pattern”?

I’ll be doing this with a second knife in the Bose Facebook group so if you win here or vice versa, don’t be greedy. 😏

Very sorry to hear about Campbell, I remember seeing a lot of his photos looking back through the thread.

This is the “Tick” and was made out of extra steel laying around for use as a box cutter.

Here’s an old pic I found in the thread.. quite a few of them:

I almost forgot…
Specs are the knives are 3” OAL, made out of 3/32” CPM154 and covered with jigged buffalo horn that Tony gave me. That looks like the same stuff Campbell had on his knife. I chose orange for the lanyards because Campbell was from the Nashville, TN area.

I always enjoyed Campbell's posts. I'm very sorry to hear that he has passed away. 49 years old is way too young.
Thanks for letting us know, Kerry. May he rest in peace.

Sorry to read Campbell passed away at such a young age. He was a very avid Bose collector and a bit of a character as well. We had some epic times at Blade with Campbell and the rest of the BoHos back in the day. I remember him trying to buy a knife from Rhett Stidham and after finally agreeing to a price the hotel ATM was dry.

Campbell is pictured far right while a young, pre-GNC Charlie Campagna (left) looks on. Nice giveaway, Kerry.

Classic Campbell. He couldn't help himself :D

Another Campbell story. At the 2010 BLADE drawing for one of Tony's knives I happened to be sitting next to Campbell when Don Hanson's name was drawn.
Campbell turns to me and says, "What's he doing winning one of those? He can make one for himself!" 😁
