Bose Knives

Wow Charlie.....that is a beautiful knife. Too bad we didn't have much time to chat and check out all of your Bose knives at the Blade Show. Mother of Pearl is a beautiful piece of material. I have a black mother of pearl Case knife that I just love. Nice catch on that knife.

Thanks for the info Mike, I will go back through the the thread and check out all of the pics. Don't get me wrong, all of the new knives are awesome, but I also like to see Tony's work in the beginning.

Thanks again guys,
Ashley

Ashley, here's what I read in Knife World:

Bose, 61, worked in factories and then had a union carpenter’s card when he “first started foolin’ around” with making knives in 1972. After many years of repairing pocketknives, Bose made two fixed blades from a friend’s broken hacksaw blade.

Bose made his first pocketknife in 1975. It was a 4-inch single blade folder with a drop point that wasn’t based on a traditional pattern.

Got the stag one a few weeks ago. Stainless steel bolsters and shield with a D2 2-½ inch blade. 3-1/4 closed.

I have it in my pocket right now but haven’t used it yet. I won’t hesitate to use it if a roving pack of plague-infested prairie dogs attacks the kids while they’re playing in the yard. (Well, maybe I'll grab a bat first, or lock the door. ;) )

I went from having a lot of knives to not very many, but I like 'em.

Hey Mike,

What kind of material is that knife on the top right? Is it ivory?

Ashley

Hey Mike, what's that young feller in your new Avatar holding?? (probably his latest buy off Ebay!!)

Charlie. Duckman sent that to me for an avatar. It's a scary sharp Bose.

Ashley, Mammoth ivory. I'm no longer the owner but I saw it at Blade. I'm told they don't make many with mammoth. That brown one in Riad's group photo is also mammoth ivory.

I shot this today under crappy florescent lighting at work, so be gentle. :o I love this knife and I am slightly prejudiced to the serpentine frame on the WT rather than the slimmer standard frame. Sepentine hides more of the run up of the tang and I find it more pleasing to the eye.

Talk amongst yaselves....DISCUSS!:D

I really like that serp version. That's how I ordered my WT from Reese, but not a shadow.
I like those shadows,I like that one in the green canvas & SS
Someone is a lucky guy/gal getting that one

Kerry, is serpentine the handle material?

Vince, what do you mean when you say you ordered one, but not a shadow?

Sorry guys, I am just trying to get down the lingo.....

Thank you,
Ashley

What a beauty, had to go get hair dryer out to dry the keyboard before posting, great shot despite crappy conditions. Thanks for sharing,
Jim

Ashley,Serpentine refers to the shape,or profile of the handle on that knife. It is a warncliffe trapper, shadow style (no bolsters). The scales (material) is green canvas micarta. The knife (warncliffe trapper)I ordered from Reese has this handle profile, but with bolsters & bone scales.
That one(the shadow pattern/style) is the ultimate user/carry knife though,IMO,with minimum hardware to get scratched up(not that scratches can't be buffed up,to some extent),it's light & SS.

Serpentine is the handle shape.
Shadow means theres no bolsters or caps.

I know...whats a bolster :)

First, Vince, thank you for the reply. I was thinking that it was micarta, until serpentine was mentioned. I just wanted to clairfy.

Second, Kerry, thank you for the reply. I do know what bolster's are by the way! ;)

You are welcome Ashley.
Kerry, what's to discuss ? You guys have my address there in Indiana, right ?

Perfect EDC. I like that frame as well. That's how Kerry made my WT. The serpentine makes it more sexy, no?

Thanks for the pictures.
