Bose Knives

When my name finally came up on Reese' list (over 5 years), decided on a 3 5/8" swayback jack with stovepipe kick hafted in stag. Both are fabulous but the nod goes to Tony's.

Best of both worlds John. I’m a fan of collecting same pattern pairs from the Bose clan

Chief Chief Glad you’re still enjoying the swayback John! I like that you had the secondary switch positions on the Reese knife. Great stag!!

Beautiful pair! John, did you specifically request one each with the secondary on the opposite side, or is that just the way father and son each make their own pattern? And why do you prefer Tony's?

Bought Tony's on the secondary market so it came as he created. When my name came up, Reese wasn't game for a lockback whittler and already own a nice one of his WTs, so a mate to the swayback was my next choice. Own a Brewer in this same pattern with the pen on the pile side, Craig convinced me it's easier to get to the pen that way. I agree, so went with that modification. Tony's is on the same frame but lighter, not just because the stag is larger, but compare the size of the bolsters. This difference in weight results in a different "talk". The heavier knife has more of a "thunk" and the lighter knife a higher pitch "ting". The "ting" sings at a more pleasing pitch to my ears. F/F on both is peerless, so that's a wash. Maybe it's just in my head a little, but Tony will always be the master.

Anyone interested, blow up Reese' phone ;)

John, thanks for the detailed info. Now you point it out, I can see the difference in the "meat" of the bolsters. Knives and knife nuts are both so individual, I think it's fascinating the different characteristics that make a knife a favorite or not. Walk & talk are certainly among the more important points that I consider.

Here is a recent one Tony finished up for me. Like many here, I have followed Tony's work for many years dreaming of owning a pile of them. I'm working on the pile but this one might take the cake for me. Tony was gracious enough to take my original Remington 1306 and make me an A2 T. Bose blade for it. This pairing makes for one of the most "beyond bad ass" (according to @Don Hanson III ) knives I can think of. If you know Tony, you know he loves vintage knives. So to have this one from him is, well....leaves me quite speechless. I carry it almost daily as my way of saying thank you to Tony. I'll let the pics tell the story:
