'Bout how many blades do you have?

Haven't counted in awhile - spreadsheet says 70.

That seems excessive, but none of them are redundant.

Except for the half dozen or so identical spares.

Still more than I expected, but they add up.

around 50 not including the ones i have made. 22 forged customs and the rest factory.

Greetings, The rule of thumb should be one knife for each year of your life. Just like the seasons. Or maybe four knives per year. You decide.

2 Benchmades (Skirmish & Apparition)
2 Bradley Cutlery Alias (I & II)
1 Gerber AR 3.00
1 Gerber small lockback folder w/2 gems (company gift)
4 CRKT's (Snap-Fire, K.I.S.S., Michael Walker Bladelock, Kasper Professional)
6 Kershaws (Blackout, Whirlwind, Blue&Teal Boa, Quince Splinter, Mini-Mojo & Lge Cyclone)
1 SOG (Flash II)
8 Spydercos (Dragonfly, Native III, D'Allara Drop Point, Assist I, Santa Fe Stoneworks Delica, Captain, Vesuvius w/Paua Inlay, Polliwog) I have a Lava on the way.
8 Case Classic Whittlers all w/Stag handles and in various models
1 Case XX Whittler w/MOP
1 Case XX Whittler w/Abalone
1 Case Whittler w/Red Sawbone
5 Case Lge Copperlocks 3 w/Stag, 1 Lizard Skin, 1 Burnt Peach Seed

All counted, including locking folders, slippies, fixed blades, swords etc., I'd say somewhere between 150-200. I haven't gotten them all out at the same time in a good long while. I'd have to wait until the wife's out of town, because she'd go nuts if she found out how many knives I actually have. Though in all fairness, if she were to take out all of the purses she owns and set them all together, I imagine I would have a similar reaction.

As long as the bills get paid, who cares?

BTW- 150-200 is still a couple thousand shy of how many I'd like to have. I'll like to have a whole room that I could walk into and there would be nothing but glass cases full of knives. And a desk for me to sit at and tinker with them.

Have about 50+, including swords (Excalibur, cavarly & USMC NCO), multi-tools, SAKs, Ka-Bar USMC fighting knife, Emersons, BMs, CSs, Spydercos, some old pocket knives, an Ontario machete, OTFs & autos, throwing knives, paratrooper gravity knife, Strider SnG, and many other POSs. Need to buy a display cabinet.

I have 31 knives. I have dwindled it down a whole lot. I am keeping my collection focused on Custom knives & CRK knives. As far as my fixed blades go, I am sticking with Ranger knives, Customs of course, and Scrap Yard knives.

I have sold off my production knives, EXCEPT the ones that were gifted to me.

And one point, I had OVER 200 knives!! Things change, the focus of my collection has grown and evolved. I am very happy with the direction that it is going now. I love custom knives.

21 Benchmades
At Least 15 Spydercos haven't counted them.
About 10 Kershaws
A couple CRKTs
5 or 6 Camillus work Knives
A couple SAK's
A Becker BK7
And a Fallkniven F1

I'm looking at getting a couple customs and maybe a CRK this year if I can quit buying Production knives. But I do like some of the new Kershaws coming out.

< I'm not a collector, I am an accumulator >

That is what I always tell everyone too ... "I'm not a collector, I just seem to accumulate them." So far I have "accumulated" a few over 300 knives, mostly folders, probably less that 10 fixed blades. - Me...sell a Knife? Never happen! I'm taking mine with me!

Somewhere around 20-40; if you include all the beaterscloser to 40. If counting only the knives of decent quality (BM, Kershaws, Spyderco), closer to 20. Almost all of them are users, but only about 10-12 of them see regular edc use.

Me...sell a Knife? Never happen! I'm taking mine with me!
Ditto here, an Accumulator, and I have nearly every knife I've ever owned. I understand "Collectors," chasing down rare and unusual knives to fill collection 'holes' or eagerly awaiting the next release in a series. I even understand "Swappers" somewhat - to them I think it's all about the social interaction with other Swappers and the thrill of a good trade. But I'll never understand the "Buy-Then-Sellers," who build up a decent accumulation then simply abandon it. Perhaps they 'outgrew' the hobby, had a financial emergency, or just don't have the "knife hoarding" gene...

I'm not taking mine with me, I'm melting them into a giant blob and dumping them in the ocean. "If I can't have them..."

143. In the late 80's / early 90's, the count was much higher, but there was no "theme" to the collection, and all of the knives had values of $50 or less. I've liquidated or given away many of the knives that I acquired when I was trying to figure out what I really liked. Chris Reeve introduced me to the world of fine cutlery in the early 90s, and my pocketbook has been suffering ever since. The current collection is centered on folders, with a focus on unique or fine mechanisms (high tolerance implementations, hidden or non-intuitive locks, autos, etc.)

Not couting multi-tools, kitchen cutlery, and knives that have been "liberated" by family members...

9 Spydercos
6 Gerbers
5 Benchmades
3 Bucks
3 Cold Steels
1 SOG
1 Chase Axinn FB

if you dont count the chinese junk beaters that I sale to people sometimes but include moras and other inexpensive but good knives I would say 50+ includeing Spyderco, Kershaw, Benchmade, Ontario, Becker, Camillus, KJ Erikson, Opinel, CRKT, Cold Steel, Frost Moras, Ka-Bar, Gerber, Buck, Bear MCG, Victorinox, Leatherman, Kellem, etc. I have a problem with closeouts if I see something I want on closeout I usually buy two of them.

too flippin many. mostly bucks, schrade, a few benchmades spyderco, sog, etc. a lot of duplicates (thats the OCD :D ). a few junkers i mess with. a few professional like dexter rippers and frosts of sweden i use when i fish or lobster. i have a few multitools too.
