Bowie for wifie

It's not quite as big as she wants, but check out the Linder Knives Kentucky Bowie. Just a thought...

Well, she's made her decision. She decided to go with the Speed Fighter from Dan Harrison. We talked with Mr Harrison for over 2 hrs this morning. What a great gentleman.

He let us see his first knife, made at age 12.

This is the Speed Fighter. Not hers. Her knife will have golden Bois d'arc handles with blue mammoth tooth spacer. It has a 9" blade made of D2. The balance on these knives is perfect.

Thanks again for all the great suggestions

Nice! Not really too traditional, in my opinion, but a nice looking knife. Congrats!
Yep, at first she didn't really know what she wanted. As she learned more through research, handling different knives and talking with Mr Harrison, she had a better idea of what knife would serve her purpose best. I think she made a fine, informed, decision.

GB, good looking knife. I'm sure she'll love it.

Looks like Mr. Harrison used a WW1 era bayonet as the basis for his first one.

Maybe I'll see you at the Alamo. I'll be the short, fat guy with a Bowie (or 2) and a cowboy hat.:D

The knife did look similar to the WW1 bolo only smaller.
Hope to see you there. You'll be easy to find. I'm sure you'll be the only one there wearing a cowboy hat:D

zzyzzogeton, with that description you shouldn't be hard to find in a large group of bowie fans at the Alamo. :p

GB, the more I look at it, the more I think he took an Plumb 1918 M1917 C.T. bolo and made a clip point Bowie out of it. If you look closely in your pic, you can see the remnants of the original stamp. One of the manufacturers for the C.T. version was Plumb out of their St. Louis plant in 1918. That "8" from the original stamp is in just the right place and looks a lot like the "8" from "1918", the third line of the Plumb bolo.

I will definitely ask him about that when I go back to pick up her blade

Good deal looks like she's got a nice one there. I've been to the Alamo but I was the tall guy in the hat. Congrats to you Texicans on the changes in your law. We could use some here in Cali.

First off, I know this the action of a necromancer, just curious if she still has her Bowie and how it has been for her? Any new pics? I have been on another Bowie thread and this came up as I was researching some knives. If no responses to my questions, please mods can bury this back to Rest In Peace. Any comments about the TX law allowing carry of such knives and how it has done these last few years? Thanks and my apologies for the walking dead, though it was popular for awhile.

Worth a step or two back to hear how this knife has aged!!!👍..

Looking forward to seeing and hearing about it...👌

Hello gents.
ATM I am going on not much sleep, so if this sounds discombobulated you’ll know why. I’ll try to make a long story short.
At the time we talked to Mr. Harrison about making the blade for my wife, we, and his family, were unaware that Mr. Harrison was in the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s. In just a few short months he went down fast. After my last conversation with him, I told my wife something was wrong. After failed attempts to reach him, I was contacted by his son and he explained the situation. Mr. Harrison had already passed away. His son was very kind and refunded our deposit.
So, the search continued.
I had purchased my knife from Lon Humphrey called the Gunfighter Bowie. My wife liked the looks of mine and said she would be happy with the same. They had sold out, but Lon had released another line of Bowies patterned after one of his favorite old school Bowie designers Samuel Bell. He called it the Bell Bowie. My better half liked the looks of it and we looked at old photos of Samuel Bell’s original creations. She loves history, and really liked the old school design so she picked out which one she wanted. It’s lighter than the Gunfighter and has the blade length she was looking for. Also has a smaller handle which fits her hand better. She’s very happy with her decision.
The Humphrey Bell Bowie is the bottom one. Gunfighter on top.
