Bowie mania, let's see the Bowies.

Well, "soonish" is here! :D  My D-Guard Bowie has arrived, and here are the photos I promised about a year ago! I'll get some better ones when the weather clears later this week.

Redmeadow (BF's own John Conner, link to his s/f in my signature) D-Guard Bowie in 52100 and Nickel Silver, with maroon Paperstone and Alternate Ivory.

John also sent it into Coop (@SharpByCoop ) for some pro photos, and I can't not include them here! ;)

Just outstanding!

Can't remember whether I posted these. Two Dawsons from Barry's Durango days. They were given numbers, not names, back then, and I think the large (later called Sheffield Sheffield Bowie) is 96 and the smaller (later called American Bowie) is 58. Heavy beasts. Hard edged. None of the fancy filework found on his later work, just all business.

The real details are lost to time buried at the Alamo. Even lots of published details and “facts” lack citations and sources. So they are questionable or even fictious

Now there are many interpretations and opinions of what constitutes a Bowie.

I know one when I see one, but I’m not going to call anyone out. If he feels his knife is a “Bowie” it’s a “Bowie”.

Who am I to judge? It’s an epic thread glad it came back to the surface. 14 pages of knife porn. Gotta love it.

Well I'm just a plumb dumber who can't post pics, but I learned as a misguided 5th grader (many years ago)that a Bowie Blade was 8" or more, had a clip point sharpened on the clip for the "belly slice" as the book in my 5th grade classroom so elegantly put it.

My post above was meant to respond to yours but the quote is missing.

If you’re a plumber you’re no dummy that’s for sure. You hold the health of a nation in your hands.

Better photos in diffused natural light today as promised. :)

Some of the detail in the Artificial Ivory shows up a bit better, though I do wish I could upload a better-quality version of these, a lot gets lost in down-sizing them. :(

That right there is a gorgeous knife even with the downsized photos.

Cool guard on the tan Rat,

Thank you! That's a relatively rare one in the world of Bussekin. It's called the "Battle Guard" (a "Battle Rat" with a guard), and was made back around 2005 I believe. Differential heat treat, full flat grind. One of my earliest Swamp Rats.

It's a good looking knife.

Thank you! I agree, I was drawn to it as soon as I saw a picture. The guard looks pretty great on it IMO!

I'm going to keep an eye out for one.

Good luck in your hunt! This is a good time to be looking, with so many old school Busse/kin hitting the secondary market. Be aware that it was a pretty limited run, and not too many were made, so they don't come up real often. I was surprised not more were made/sold.
