BP or Cabelas , or custom 110.

By carefully choosing a blade steel one can get good edge retention and ease of sharpening . DM
 
With only two types of steel........wouldn't you have a 50-50 chance no matter what, Dave?

And in my experience, they both give pretty good edge retention for most jobs and are easy to sharpen.

One just gives you some fancy alphabet/number designator and a BOS stamp (but both are BOS treated).

Well, that would eliminate the choice of Custom 110, Dave.

(Because those are the two steel choices.)

If he does decide on a Custom 110, I'd advise the OP to give the CS a call just to make sure there might not be a supply, however small, of other choices in steel.

You can't always go by what it says on the Website.
