Same here Jer, I think they're all like that. I think that other knife is just shown as an example of a custom, as BPS sell the bladesInteresting.
Mine are steel, with ordinary shaped bolts.
Totally agree. I typically do not buy a knife and start changing things, unless the knife was purchased as a project knife. The BPS knives do look good and from what I have read here are good knives. I should order a couple.Yes, I agree RickFair enough, they look good, but I'm happy with the stock knives I've had with them, particularly for the price

Aha. Got it.Same here Jer, I think they're all like that. I think that other knife is just shown as an example of a custom, as BPS sell the blades![]()
Me too, though I have to admit that is partly down to laziness!Totally agree. I typically do not buy a knife and start changing things, unless the knife was purchased as a project knife. The BPS knives do look good and from what I have read here are good knives. I should order a couple.
Was holding out hopeful these would be one of the BF forum knives as suggested several pages back. Have not seen any movement on that front lately so I guess I order direct.
Good idea Jer, I'm looking forward to seeing how that one turns outAha. Got it.
I bought a nice, flat, straight, slat of oak. This will be faster and easier than cutting straight pieces off a block.

(I'm changing them because the originals don't reach the edges of the tang, and I don't like the bare tang around the lanyard hole under the heel of my hand.)
A darn good question! And why must these darn kids nowadays leave a corner of naked tang on everything?
Yeah.At least you get a flat-grind with this one![]()
Yeah, me too mateYeah.
Maybe I'll tackle that savage today. The flat grind was why I had to have that one.
The flat grind was why I chose the savage as well.Yeah.

Don't know if you're joking, but those help push penetration of the blade, a method that is used for quickly and humanly dispatching fish and game animals. Also, I have a question on the HK2 -- what's the purpose of the false edge on the top? Wild looking knife, but I kind of can't figure it out! Lol

Good for youJust ordered 2 of their "stand with Ukraine" camp knife, one for me and one as a gift.
It'll probably be a year or so before I can see and handle them since I'm currently traveling, and that's if they ever get to Canada in the first place.
But the fact that those guys still show up for work everyday with everything that's going on is simply amazing, and deserving of support.
Slava Ukraini!
Be interesting to see anything you come up with RickThe flat grind was why I chose the savage as well.
I keep looking at it. The scales are nice enough after being sanded down, but it's not like me to leave something like that alone. There are a few nice pieces of wood laying around here that need a home....
That's a shame you missed it, as it took a surprisingly long time to sell out. Good luck in finding oneJust learned about the blue and yellow micarta handles Ukrainian Independence knife. Wish I could track down one of those!
Heaven knows! Also, I have a question on the HK2 -- what's the purpose of the false edge on the top? Wild looking knife, but I kind of can't figure it out! Lol

Thanks! It was a serious question, and I know basically nothing about hunting. Makes sense, thanks!Don't know if you're joking, but those help push penetration of the blade, a method that is used for quickly and humanly dispatching fish and game animals.
That's a shame. Hopefully they'll be doing another solidarity run before too long
InterestingUpdate -- I ended up keeping the nighthawk, and swapping the scales onto the carbon steel blade.
I think the grind of the stainless blade is off a bit on the tang, neither set of scales gets quite flush on the top and bottom. Can be fixed, but I haven't gotten to it yet. Conversely, both sets of scales are a perfect fit on the carbon steel blade.
Here's a photo... A bit of an illusion, these are exactly the same size. With all the BPS knives I've had so far, with a little work on the unfinished handles goes a very long way.
