Brass is back on the menu... GEC #44

I'm interested to see the satin ones. I don't think I'd prefer it unless it also meant they don't come with an etch.

I went with the satin for a few reasons. I have customs with satin blades that I like. And as far as the 44 is concerned I figured why not try it since it has a couple new designs that I don't have, such as brass, squared and flattened stamped bolsters along with the Gunstock pattern itself. It certainly won't ruin the knife for me. We'll see when it arrives.

After I completely cleaned/flushed out both joints on my #44, all that black, heat slag or treat stops coming out of the back springs, then it nearly jumps out of my hand when closing! Like a Gator, on the main blade!! This type of action is what made GEC great to begin with!

This Tidioute is nearing early retirement after only 3 weeks of faithful service.:(:p

According to USPS tracking, my new Northfield CocoBrass is due this Thursday! :D

Holy cow - where did this come from?!? Anyone know the details about this - maybe a rendezvous knife? SFO??

According to the GEC website it's a one of a kind to be raffled off to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.

Picked up a Cocobolo from Mike. I was initially wary of the brass with wood but it has grown on me. Maybe this will kick the Coffin Jack out of my pocket.
The NF jigged bone looks good too, I'm a sucker for that color.

That is good lookin' stag right there. I swear I only intended to pick up ONE of these 44s and that has gone right out the window.

Just noticed my main blade has some blade play... Noticed it was off centered and then wiggled the blade. For some reason I don't seem to be bothered by it as much on slip joints.

Harry,

Double Dog Dare You! :p

These look great and one would fit nicely in your collection (mine too!). :D:D

It would be un-fair to take your dare . I have had a Stag & the Northfield Jigged Bone reserved for a LOOOOOONG time .

Got my 44 Goldenrod Jigged bone today. The Jigg bone was cool but light...might get some personality with use. I also found it hard getting around the pen blade to get a nail on the main blade. If the main blade thumb notch was on the opposite side, problem solved....A double blade knife on a gunstock handle shape, its a no brainer. So much space not utilize as far as function for that second blade. Another thing is the thumb notch on the main blade favors toward the handle which did not help the leverage situation when opening. The knife felt too heavy and thick for me right off the bat. I assumed it would be like the #56 Bird Dog...its the steroid version. I put it in my small watch jean pocket to do the sit down test. The knife popped halfway out of my pocket, so I know I will lose this one (weight, inertia, gravity). Great quality but not for me as far as a small slipjoint knife. A tank of a 3.5" slipjoint for sure. My #35 churchill stays put in the pocket... I now really appreciate this package and how light it carries even more....besides the weaker lock spring. The 56 carries great as well...they do not sneak out of the pocket at all
