Brass is back on the menu... GEC #44

Pile side jigging might be even better. Notice, then pins are flush on both sides as well (for those who are about that sort of thing).

Just got an email from Barry that my Cocobolo is ready to ship :) Has anyone got theirs in-hand yet?

Did they give you the choice of which you wanted or do you just get surprised?
This is the note they sent me:
"Important: We will be getting some that are satin finished blades instead of polished. If you would prefer satin, please just put "Prefer Satin" in the order notes (on the address page during checkout). These will be produced last and we will honor as many preferences as possible. If you prefer polished, no note is necessary."

Received my #44 today. The Goldenrod bone was a good deal lighter than I anticipated, but both covers match in lightness perfectly, so I'm perfectly fine with it. Same can't be said for my #48 in jigged Antique Amber... Walk & talk is superb. F&F is very good, not quite perfect though. Pull is nice and strong. Won't have to ever worry about this popping closed on me. Wish my Churchill's main clip had springs this strong... Wish the pen blade rested a smidgen lower than it does to allow better access to the main clip nick, but it'll do..

I really, really wished I had reserved a Cocobolo/brass one as well. I was skeptical initially, but they turned out BEYOND gorgeous. Sadly I've already commited to 3 of the upcoming #14 SFOs, so the funds just aren't there.

I flushed mine with soapy water, dried, and oiled (now I'm working the blades and wiping excess grime that comes out). The action is was good already, but I expect it will be much better soon. I like the lighter color. The edges remind me of rapeseed, which, unfortunately, I didn't get to see when I visited Slovakia that one time (it was winter).

So far I haven't felt any issues with the tang cutting into my finger when I grip the 44. I noticed that, on the pen, the blade sits just below the tang rather than all the way to the top. I wonder if that is how they got the tang to feel a little better?

Also, maybe I'm just imagining it, but it seems like both of the tangs sit closer to the end of the bolster rather than further back toward the butt, such that my finger rests more on the back of the blades than on the tang. Anyone else getting this result, or is it just my imagination?

Still waiting for my email confirmation that my cocobolo is ready to ship. Getting really excited now. Not sure how I managed to stay so patient.

The dealer through whom I buy hasn't gotten his yet. I'm not too worried about it, I think I'm tired of trying to fight to get a knife on "drops".

I'm interested to see the satin ones. I don't think I'd prefer it unless it also meant they don't come with an etch.
