Breaking knives

Interesting to watch just like:
Lucky Charms vs. Trix

This is a clear choice between leprechauns and rabbits. Any fool knows that leprechauns are much cooler.

You forgot Bud Light v. Miller Light and Coke v. Pepsi.

No way is a masculine fairy cooler than a six foot tall talking rabbit...leprechauns are extinct anyway:)

I didn't forget them...I just didn't want to start any silly arguments.

Ginger is a skank 'ho. Mary Anne has all kinds of kink under that sweet-girl facade. This one is a no-brainer.

Well, I prefer the high octane, but that's not where the advertising battle resides.

Yeah, but Ginger's practically a sure thing...To score with Mary Anne you'd have to be something special...captain of a boat...or a millionaire...or a super smart coconut scientist. Let's face it...to women like that, we're all Gilligans.

Seriously, hear me out here, ever considered Lovie Howell? With her money you could buy three Gingers and nine Mary Anne's.

To say something about knives breaking.

The last kinfe that broke for me came from Tractor Supply Co from their bargain bin.

I was cutting some heater hose when the pin that was used as a blade stop broke.

I bought many a cheap knife for work to lend and abuse.

So if they break or get lost who cares.

even cheap blades have there place in the world.

I agree that a lot of knives are misused. But somepeople really would need to have a heavy blade knife that is durable. Chris you say you are in the military and that is one area that someone could use a strong fixed blade knife. But reality is that most of the knives used in Iraq are used to cut open MRE's or cut packages open. I don't know of anyone fighting their way out with a Randall over here. My point is some people do need a stout knife to do different tasks and some don't. But damn the newest indestructible tactical knife sure looks cool right? :)

Most soldiers don't carry a knife period and if they do it is usually a multitool or a POS bought at the PX, abused until it is destroyed and then replaced with another POS. This is my first desk job, in some ways rank sucks, but when I was a team leader I required my soldiers to have a knife and a flashlight everytime we rolled out of the motorpool gate I went so far as to make it part of my PCI checks. I started this because it was a constant aggravation for soldiers to always borrow mine, especially when I loaned out my spyderco police and it was returned with half an inch broken off the tip.

I understand that specialized tools are requried for different jobs, military, police, SAR, that's you skammer, however, here I am talking woodcraft and I do not recognize the use of sharpened pry bars in the woods. Not only do I not recognize them I think they are worthless weight in 99% of all woods work, there are much better tools for wilderness trekking, or for that matter general utility IMO.

One thing about this thread that people can't seem to get through their head is I am talking about a style of knife not the price. Gene Ingram makes some wonderful woods knives that are far from cheap and I constantly lust after them, however to say that their performance is 20 or 30 times better than a mora is not true. Chris

I may have peed my pants a little:D

I'm glad you work alone too. :D

555, I'm sure there are a few knives around here stamped "China," but they're few and far between.

Some clearanced CRKT's or a $20 Kabar Dozier is about as cheap as I go these days for a single-blade lockback.

For $20 though, you can get one heck of a knife in a Vic SAK.

I don't have to buy these cheap knives anymore.

The only way I buy Made In China anymore is buying on line and they are not clear where it is made.

the last one was a SOG.

I've learned my lesson.

Chris, you say you're not talking about price, but then you bring up Gene Ingram and you talk about price.

Folks have been around and around a similar argument on other forums here. The two biggest attention draws? Sebenzas and Busses. Are they that much better, people constantly ask. And yes, they mean the price/performance ratio.

But if you really mean a style of knife, why then that's just a giant subjective can of worms. It so much depends on other definitions. Which wilderness are you talking about? What do you mean by bushcraft? What is the performance you demand? Maybe someone else has different definitions. Whereas you don't dig your knife into stumps (?) on a regular basis, maybe they do. Styles are like opinions and assholes. Everybody's got one, and they're all a little different. My asshole, for example, can play the theme song to Rocky when I eat my wife's three-bean salad.

Guyon,

BTW I think the last knife that broke on me was a Necker that was packed in Quikrete.

And the knife broke when the Jack Hammer bit hit it.:D

I understand you are the local dealer for Quikrete.

Can this be covered under Warranty?:D

What did I say wrong? Gene makes cheap knives? I don't think they are cheap, the ones I used I thought were great.

As far as what people do, assholes and opinions, I have asked many times what people do to need these tactical thick ultra strong knives in the woods and other than skammer I haven't gotten an answer, and skammer doesn't count he is on a sar team for goodness sakes. The most I have gotten is I carry them for hypothetical situations don't really happen, if anyone like you says I carry them because I like them then that is fine, but there is no need to try to convince someone that they NEED them, or they are the best choice for the woods. Chris
