Breeden Knife Number Three, and some Firestarting Under Very Wet Conditions

Part 2

Further along the trail with Kelly Girl and kathy following me. In this pic
kathy said I blended in with the back ground but I think you can see the MEGA Wartthorn pretty good though:D LOL

Now Caine, I do not know if I have the coolest knife or not, But to me this
is the best longer knife that I have ever had or used so far for some of my cutting and clearing chores that I have been doing. Again that slanted guard is the key and being able to choke up on the handle/ blade area is so freaking cool, I wish I could have had this knife 20 years ago. :D

Just for fun here is a pic of Kelly Girl cooling off in the creek that runs through that canyon area.

yahoo!! Reviews, Pics, Oh MY!!

Love the look of the tan handled one! Waitin on more about it.

Definetely gotta get me one, just waitin on the paycheck! :)

Since you're using it for keeping those fences from getting grounded out I see both why you like the size and why you want it thinner.

Hi all,

Zhangmaster12, I am with ya on that I can hardly wait to see what mistwalker writes and what pics he posts up LOL

Mistwalker, Yep a thinner steel is really going to work better for that the grasses and the smaller trees and such. After clearing away the under growth in a bunch of areas
I could tell later in the day( my arm told me LOL) that I had used that 3/16" thick knife some. The next MEGA for me is going to be a little shorter blade
10" and thinner steel. I am going to order on monday the 3/32" and 1/8".
Then I will have a buch of different thicknesses.

Patience  aw crap. Don't you remember that conversation we had a just a few days back about wanting thinkgs now LOL :D But If I have to I guess I just have to LOL But I can still hardly wait LOL.

I knew that would be the way of it. Keeping the electric fence clear was the main time in my life that I liked the thinner blades. I made a shorter machete out of a really long British issue machete I bought at the Jacks Army Store downtown.

Remember patience is a virtue lol.

Sorry to revive an old thread but ...there wasn't enough material yet to warrant a new thread. Last week Bryan sent his Mega Warthorn down for me to take and and work with so I could check it out. I have been hoping to use it in a little trap building but it has been raining and storming so much lately that I haven't had many chances to get out and do much when I wasn't at work. But I have managed to work with it a little bit, checking out how well it chops and how it would work for firecraft. You can tell how cloudy it is by the lighting and how much I had to use the flash at 6:00pm

The first thing I did was chop and split some seasoned Hickory which it handled very well.

I cut a downed and seasoned Silver Birch limb with it and was pleased with how easily it handled that.

Then I tried it out on a downed pine tree...see, the one good thing about lots of storms is they give you lots to chop on...and it did really well at lopping off the limbs in one lick and the with the chopping I think this was about twenty licks but it was off the ground and springy.

I tried it out busting up some fatwood and making tinder. It did really well with that, and the spine through good sparks but was a bit awkward due to the length.

All in all it has been interesting and enlightening. It is fun to work enough in chopping and splitting. However it is really a beast of a knife and this let me know that a 12" blade is really a little longer than I want, but that I definitely want a 10" version...considering Bryan recently made a 10" for himself I think he reached the same conclusion.

Cool pics mistwalker. You know for a 3/16" thick blade it really chops pretty good. I am with ya on the shorter blade is nicer I think. As soon as I get another 5/32" by 10" long blade ( I have half of it cut out LOL) done I will send you the Green handled one I have since I will have another one made up with a Orange handle this time LOL , to see what you think of the 10" green handled One Zero.

Zhangmaster12 I hope to get your handles in this week and then put it all together LOL
