I got the knife on Friday, and I've been testing it out this weekend. Sorry for not posting when I received it! I put all the pictures on my computer today, but I didn't get a chance to upload them.
Overall, I really like the knife! I have 2-3 other knives that are this size, but this knife is different from those in that the blade is narrower for it's relative length. I liked this for some reason. I enjoyed the blade profile, and the handle fit comfortably in my hand. For extended whittling and use, I had some slight hand fatigue, which is fairly common for me and smaller overall profile blades. I like the contours of the handle, just a little small for my hands.
The overall fit and finish of the knife was good. I'd like to see a little more smoothing of the scales, as show in this recent thread. I don't necessarily need for these edges to be slimmed down because of grip issues, but I just think it makes the knife look much better. I've taken some comparison photos, which I'll try to post tomorrow.
I used the knife this morning to undo some stitching on some clothes, and the sharp point worked great! I did some light drilling with no trouble. Some light batoning as well, mostly with just palm smacking rather than using an actual baton, and the thin blade worked very well. I didn't notice any edge problems during any of my use, but it did seem to loose its edge quickly, though it might need some reprofiling. I'm not that great on edges yet, but it almost looks like the bevel has started to convex perhaps. But, popping it on the belt grinder with some 60 grit did the job just right... kidding! I did use my leather strop loaded with some compound, and it quickly restored the edge to hair popping sharp.
The thing I liked most was the sheath! I haven't had the chance to use a leather sheath like this before. Most of mine are medium ride kydex with teklok's. Which I love, but this sheath rides pretty low, it is much more natural and comfortable to access the knife. I might be working on some drops for my kydex. Or after I've narrowed down my collection, getting some nice leather pants for some. I've never been a fan of leather. One of the first things that I do when I get a new knife is to get some kydex pants made for it, but I don't think I would for this knife!
Overall a great knife, I'll post some pictures later.
