Brick and Mortar GEC Knives

this was last years rendezvous haul

had to trade a 33 i got at the shop for the 85, it began a new obsession. turns out its a highly derivative obsession as the 85 is practically in that 14,15,77,78,85,86 pattern shape family. 15s are always welcomed in my collection, i think counting every rendezvous ive attended, ive left with some sort of 15. Someone beat me to the shop for 2021 and scored a smooth autumn barlow a day before the festivities but🤞for 2022. Finally got a 71 in S to try without having to pay a secondary markup. Thats a new model to me. Definitely a workhorse.

I enjoyed picking out this one at the GEC store in Titusville, PA A few summers ago. Christine Tucker had just left that year and Joan Mae was still learning the ropes. Joan Mae was wondering why people would drive from Virginia just to look at knives. I was able to look over the five remaining knives and take my time picking this one out.

Bought in the GEC Factory store - both "S" models, they are wonderful knives! I can't find why they are marked "S", and still find it hard to believe they stayed in the display waiting for me!! A thrill to buy first-hand!! At a discount!! They were Rendezvous Specials!!View attachment 1762996View attachment 1762997
Wow the stag on those is primo!! Some serious standards if those are Seconds! Looks like there's a mark next to one of the pins where a tool might have slipped?

Sir, that 15 is 🔥🔥🔥

Thanks, Randy gave that up as a trade for one of the 86s i got snakeskin acrylic. I had gotten lost in the pitch black of titusville as my pal Dr-Mabuse Dr-Mabuse likes to remind me that Titusville has only like ten blocks. Otherwise id have gotten one. He knew I wanted the 15 for my collection more. The story behind that one was, Bill had done those smooth white bones for a small knife group, and the left overs were counted as parts knives.

Thanks for sharing. That thing is a smoke stack! Lovely

I wonder if there is a single dealer in my entire state that has a brick and mortar location that features GEC knives. I know there are a few dealers here, but I think they sell online exclusively.

I missed the last Rendezvous, but did GEC put limits on how many knives a person could buy per visit?

yes to make it fair, Bill made it two knives per ticket, which he himself hands out at the opening on Friday. If you pick the rendezvous knife, you are allowed one other knife that visit. Of course as you walk out, you are welcomed to take a second ticket to line up again as it would give all those a chance to visit the shop once. Really puts a stop on those guys who are first in line just to grab all the knives and leave. There are of course those who line up again and again and again and grab everything that isnt nailed down. Last time, to make it fair, they held some of the parts knives back to have a bunch for both days. I think my first day last year because I refuse to camp out, i ended up way back in the line 🤣

2 knives per trip into the store..... If you wanted a 2nd trip into the store, you had to go to the back of the line and wait your turn.... 2 people in the store per time......

I live ~ 190 miles from GEC..... I did a road trip last fall and picked up this 2AB "S" model.....20211014_093243.jpg

Oh, I think I'd find that aggravating. At least when I can't get what I want online, I don't have to actually see the flippers grabbing everything up. 😅

This one came from the knife show guy, too.
