Bring out your SHBM! Bring out your SHBM!

349 was exactly the same.

As long as we're reminiscing, did you ever uncover anything definitive on whether the LE numbers on those actually represented sequential production numbers? As in, were there actually 350+ LE SHBM's made? Hardly ever see one.

Yes, they did not. The LE numbers were not sequential to age. They were totally random.

Yeah, that was my impression. Sweet, sweet blades with the higher RC and thin edge grinds.

The LE's came in every SHBM progression there was, with the 1/300's being squarely in the middle. One who buys old #37(which I owned after him and now someoen else owns) was a 1/300 grind. Skunks LE #500 is one of the original grinds Jerry made in early 1998 yet it is the highest numbered LE. Look at Skunks LE then look at the Ron Hood knives from the early 1998 WSK article, that lilfoo provided.

They were all ground at the same time by jerry with extra thick tips as seen above. These are the oldest SHBM's. So Skunks #500 is older than #350 and #236 for sure. The 1/300's were a totally different run and may have run almost immediately after the first ones above started coming out, definitely not before. However, even though blade blank for #500 was made early the knife itself may not have been finished until much later. However, LE #236 has angle grooved handles which were done at the very end of the SHBM run, so #236 was definitely made well after all the others. confusing? yes.

Well, yeah, but I'm kinda jealous of all those skinny Mistresses, with the sharp elbows and the kinda bony look, instead of this big boned girl I got here.

You always want what you do not have, amiright?

Yeah. No kidding. I'd trade a skrawny mistress for a fat one any day.

You know what they say about fat girls and mopeds.....

Ever since I saw Noss over luv the Battle Mistress and give them such a high grade on his old website Knifetest, I wanted one, finally I decided to buy one and quickly realized how Busse work selling their knives, the only Battle Mistress that was available was the Anneversary Straight Handle Battle Mistress before they sold out to never have it again I bought the Anneversary Straight Handle Battle Mistress LE what a beaut, I also lucked out on getting the Swamp Rat INFI which is the INFI Ratmandu I was tge happiest guy on earth, but before the drawing on BladeForum I knew I needed a smaller knife to pair off with my A.S.H.B.M. LE so again the availability I got the Anneversary Mean Street LE, then I got a E-mail that the Sarge 7 was available knowing tgey sometimes sell out fast I bought it with Black G-10 handles as all my Busse's have, but still I wanted a 5"-6" blade and the only one available by this time was the Son of Badger I jumped on it and no regrets it became my favorite bushcraft knife perfect for me in every regards, then the Luck came with my INFI Ratmandu that just so happens to be my fav 5" blade that I had in the SR101, but I alway's felt my A.S.H.B.M. LE was just a little too long for a compact carry, don't get me wrong I luv my A.S.H.B.M. LE, but again I got another E-mail and again I got lucky and now I have a Nuclear Meltdown Fussion Steel Heart another Busse creation that is Simply TiT's, it's beautiful infact that's how I feel with all my Busse's, I luv my Busse.

Right, and if you had found an original Straight Handle Battle Mistress it would have been roughly the same length as the NMFSH with less handle and more blade. Imagine how perfect that would be.;):D

I think I use to have some of those...or maybe 20 some of those, 8 being factory Satin ;)
Now I just use my Ban sharpened Satin Jungle Assault with my Flying MOAB and Chuckette' when I need to cut down a Giant Redwood Tree :)
