Bring this tree down?

I've done it on about 12 occasions with no problem whatsoever - and all of mine were free falls, not hung up in another tree. That said, I've done a lot of work with and around trees, so I am pretty confident I can gauge how they'll fall. Never had a problem.

If you have no idea how the dynamics work, and are not confident, hire a professional. Or, WVHILLS, I'll drive up to WV for the cost of gas and take this puppy out for ya! :D

I appreciate the offer Brian:thumbup: But I think I'll just burn and shoot at it till it falls over:D

Seriously, bro, you're on the right track - 20 lb of Kingsford briquettes in that soon-to-be-stump, plus a few boxes of 12 ga slugs, and she's down. Not quick, but safe enough. Safety is first, even for us rednecks that just wanna drink beer and kill stuff.

Vids would be cool, though.

Listen. When a tree has a lean to it there is a buildup of force, just like in a bent bow. Men have died hitting them with axes. Hire someone. That is a loaded gun.

I couldn't agree more.

I've seen a tree kick back at a friend of mine and I can understand how it would get very nasty very quick.

I wouldn't mess with it.

Just to throw out yet another idear. How about a cable/wire saw with the handles tied to two very long pieces of rope long enough to get far enough away to be safe and still be able to work it back and forth? I think the sturdier version (deluxe commando cable/wire saw for about $8) would work the best. I have been very surprised and impressed what you can cut down with a wire saw, and I actually prefer them to the pocket chainsaws. I think it would work easier than a pcs as well because it can't flip when starting like the pcs does, nor does it bind like the pcs. Plus, if it broke or got stuck, you wouldn't be out much $$. Of course it would have to be long enough to work back and forth and I don't know how big around this tree is. Just a thought...

edit: I would wear leather gloves and make sure not to wrap the rope around my hands just in case the tree kicked and grabbed the rope/saw.
