Broken Byrd

Why do you think it's BS? Sounds like a perfectly good way to break a folding knife.

The experience only bolstered my faith in the knife. The blade held up surprisingly well considering I was doing full arm swings into steel. Here's the pics.

Please note I broke the G10 scale in half myself after the knife broke and was disassembled. I wanted to examine the inside of the material. It's interesting stuff, gives a very weird feeling when you try to cut through it.

Vivi- if you were in a sticky situation, and had to use 2 knives to chop your way out through solid steel, destroying both of them beyond repair, how were you able to recover all of the parts in your picture? including the small piece of tip on the 110? it couldn't be that sticky if you had time after you cut yourself free to recover all of the parts that must have sprung too and fro when the knife came apart.

tell us a story. ;)

Vivi- I'm new here but.......to know that you were chopping through light metal is enough for me if that is all you are willing to tell. I find interesting that you comment that part of the blade pivot was the first to go. Was this because the screw loosened and worked its way out or did it break? (You may have answered this, I read so many posts I forgot) Assuming it worked its way out and didn't break, do you think if the pivot had been locktited that the handle would have held up under the pressure? It sure looks in a lot better shape than the 110 considering you broke the G10 on purpose. Maybe its flexibility of the handle as opposed to rigid 110 was a plus? I have both but the Byrd seems much more portable to me these days and because of the clip, lighter in my pocket.

so the moral of this story is that anything can be broken if it is abused enough, and not admitting to how you destroyed your own property is a way of trying to make other people believe you have been through a desperate situation that you survived only because of you courage and wits.what a load of crap.knives are tools used to cut not pry or chop, there are other tool designed for that purpose.

I would suspect whatever it was he did was either some form of illegal activity or the something resulting from a stupid descision. No offense to you vivi but these are the reasons I wouldnt tell some of my experiences in life.

Vivi, maybe you should follow some kind of anger management. Using a folder to hack and slash wildly into any object up to the point of disintegrating the whole knife is a VERY dangerous thing to do. You are very lucky to have survived the destruction of these two knives with all your digits still attached.
Don't let your emotions overcome you. Buy a heavy bag, fill it with old rags and stomp away, but stabbing a knife into another metal is a very dangerous way of dealing with frustration.

I wouldn't bother to inquire if this is a warranty question, we all know the knife did not fail under "normal" user conditions.
