Has anyone had any experience with the new Brous Blades Parallax knife? What are your thoughts on it?

I have a Parallax. Very smooth flipper, fits my hand comfortably. Clean design and, IMO, well constructed an ergonomic. The Exo is a tad smaller, blade wise and flips smoothly. Both have good clips that carry well. Brous Blades have some interesting designs.

I knew "brous" was a goofball when he burst on the scene with garbage designs calling himself "Kut Throat Knives" He took advice to change the crap name, and seems to have picked up some help with marketing along the way. Pretty shady to make fat cash selling (likely imported) mass produced knives as midtech or customs, but not surprising.

So, it's not comfortable in my hand and he ( Brous ) is making shady fat cash?
New here and first post, so not sure of your comment.

Will just once, a new guy just take some advice and do some reading:rolleyes: it usually turns into I some variant of butt hurt defense of his knife.

Tough crowd on the Blade Forum.
I'm neither hurt or defending.
I thought the first response from Mr. Rat was odd, his second clarifying. Mr. Shinyedges, your response is rather antagonistic. Neither posts gave advice, opinion yes, but not advice.
Not very helpful to the new guy at all.

IMG_2476.JPG Hey Frank & welcome!!
I also think Jason has some interesting designs. I have a Mini Division, VR-71, Bionic 2.0 and a T4. I think they are some of the best flippers out there and he does a great job with D2.
I had Steve Ketchen make custom scales for my VR-71 and I like it even more now.
Also found he provides excellent customer service the 2 times I needed it.
Going to get a set of scales made for the T4....NOT thrilled with the texture of the stock scales.
VR-71 pic.

Sorry frank, many times when a new person is told their knife is made by a (insert bad word here) they usually respond poorly.

Welcome, lots of info here, enjoy.

Thank you Joe! Appreciate the kind words. Nice job on the VR-71. Cool looking knife. I'm hoping I get the same good customer support from Mr. Brous.

Thank you Mr. Shinyedges. No harm done.

I avoid brous at all cost. I have strongly suspected that he utilizes chinese factories for parts. In fact the majority of them and pimps them and sells them as customs. He isnt the only one doing this but at least some are honest about it. I see many instagram makers doing the same thing. They make a few rough looking fixed blades from tool steels and forging and all of a sudden overnight they are "making" precision cnc products with the most popular steels being utilized in china at the current time. It doesnt bother me that they do this. It bothers me that they pretend they are not. So brous? No. Zieba? Not until i see some evidence they arent using kizer, we or reate. Too many people taking a play out of the Tim britton book of knifemaking.

Nice quick overview, Rat, but I would be remiss if I didn't point out that you skipped over his episodes of design theft (e.g. the Division being a clone of that one Polish designer's knife).

Well that would be quite diheartening if Mr. Brous or any other knifemaker/company were involved in unscrupulous business practices. I do not know Mr. Brous nor have been to his factory/home/workplace (wherever he or employees build his knives) so I cannot assume or suspect anything other than I like the Brous knives I own, as well as my CRKs, Spyderco's, Benchmades etc. I tend to enjoy the knives I purchase.

He's definitely shady, as much has been proven by his past actions. For example, the top knife is a design by another maker (who said he hadn't given permission to Brous until later when Brous was called out about it ad talked to him) and the bottom knife is the Brous Division:

He hasn't achieved the heights of scumbaggery attained by legendary douche-icons like Strider (stolen valor dishonorable douche) or Marfione (various misdeeds), but don't kid yourself about what sort of guy you're supporting when you buy a Brous knife.

So are Brous' small parts made overseas or the whole knife, including the handles, then its assembled here ?does it include the division, and insight,to name a few? If this is true, his prices are so out of line its not even funny. At least quartermaster is ripping people off at a lower price point..

Retailers are listing Brous knives as U.S. made.
Is this not correct?
Qtrmstr is listed as USA made as well. Yet substantial evidence says otherwise. Retailers do zero investigation into the origin of manufactuer for a product. (Most don't anyway, a few due)

I'm not kidding myself Mr. Evilgreg. Thanks for the Brous Blades warning. I will have to do some research. Just to be clear though, it's not my job to defend or defame Mr. Brous. If, though, Mr. Brous tries some shenanigans as far as no customer support, doesn't honor his warranty or his word, I will be the first to say: you guys were right. The Exo and Parralax seem well made, flip well and seem very sturdy. Let's see if the XR-1 has any issues. It would sadden me to find out Mr. Brous is not a man of his word.

Never bought or owned a Brous but have considered it in the past.
Having owned my Protech TR-5 SA (my edc) and carried it now for over 2 years..as well as meeting the owner at his facility where they are made..there is no going back for me.
I'd love to hear others experience with the Brous though. If it is true about the owner well, no thank you.
