The bottom line is as stated...I the customer,am very pleased with my Brute-de Forge Chopper from Allen Newberry(with the errant hammer mark & nontraditional G10 handle scales.)
And that's really what's important and what's great about "custom knives", you can get exactly what you want in a knife!

Seems to me that if the person that made the knife is happy and the person that is paying is happy, well then it was a job well done. It doesn’t much what others think of it. Good Job, Allen.

And there it is - the bottom line and all that really matters. :)

Respectfully, if that is "all" that matters . . . then why post it here? Just enjoy your knife in anonymity.

Or even if you are going to post it here, why not in a locked thread?

I submit that people do want others to comment or there is no reason to post it here in an unlocked thread. So those comments must matter - or else again, why invite them with an unlocked thread about the knife in the first place?

Now some may only want complimentary comments, praise, and being told how wonderful they are, working in a land of unicorns and rainbows. Maybe that should be the rules here: only totally 100% complimentary comments allowed.

You are a moderator, so let me know if that is the rule: only totally complimentary posts are welcomed.

I am just a lowly participant here, but it seems to me that if you post an unlocked thread about a knive, you are inviting comments and you should expect POLITE, respectful, honest, non-personal, comments that may include mention or discussions of aspects of the knife that some folks do not find appealing.

But since this seems to come up over and over and over here . . . IMO it would be really beneficial if the moderators and/or owner of this site clarified their rules or expectations in this regard - perhaps with a nice sticky thread at the top of this forum. JMO.

mykel m - glad to hear that you are pleased with the knfe and that it performs well. Neither factor was really in doubt - it was built to your specs and meets your expectations - that is a win for maker and customer alike.

Well folks, this is my knife & I like it just fine.:p
Allen made it to my specs & IMO,he knocked it out of the park.
Thanks again Allen,it was money well spent on my part.

I chopped some 2x4s & split some 4x4s at work when it came in & it performed fantastically.
It's very comfortable in use & bites deep.
Now I can't wait to take it camping & beat the hell out of it.
And I love the orange/black G10 & only wish that I could have gotten some thicker orange & carbon fiber I told you about, that would have looked even better.(love the red & carbon fiber on my little tin knife.)
As far as the errant hammer blow,no biggie,it doesn't effect the performance in the least & gives the knife character.

Thanks for the positive comments and the critiques gents.

Merry Christmas BF.

The most importnat thing. :D

It would be boring if we all liked the same thing. :)

people are free to comment on knives in here, but many choose not to. You have chosen not to comment regarding your thoughts on this knife, for example.

neither the maker nor his patron said anything negative about anyone's comments in here, so I reckon it is not the fault of either of them that things blew up the way that they did.

we are all culpable in this, and I find it that those who speak the most strongly about how they feel limited in making critique are also those who often choose not to say anything at all.

If we are to cultivate an environment where useful critique is to become what this forum is known for, as many of us want it to be, then we owe it to those who post in here to post our thoughts regarding the pieces shown. We all need to step up to the plate here, imo.

We've long stopped discussing the knife that was the topic of this thread. Lorien's comments serve as a good closing point.
