Brut de forge hybrid

Ray, you are so seriously talented and have such an amazing eye I can't even believe it.
You are the man!

Thanks Ray, I liked seeing the photo of the 3 blades side by side. I like the rustic look of the forged blade. My other buddy, Mudbone, makes a lot of blades like that, he uses a lot of files to start with. I hope to do that style too... (if I can get a shop set up!!!!!) :)
Hoping to get down to see him to finish my knife, it's taken a long time. My back is just starting to recover from getting my anvil home from the auction. BTW, In case anybody missed it, Ray has a photo of it, I think it is a farrier's style, and it's marked Sweden and 153 on the back side that isn't in the photo. Guess I should have had help trying to move it. Anyway, I was sorry to see you got oil on your good pair of gloves Ray....... :)
Got our monthly Wolverine Knife Club meeting tomorrow, so will get to look at some more stuff, maybe another Moran will turn up? See ya later, Guy

Ray that is a BEAUTIFUL piece! Love everything about it... it all works together!

VERY, VERY NICELY DONE!

Tom

Its pretty much a done deal now. Before I epoxy the handle I'll give the butt cap some shape but for right now I need to leave it the way it is.

That is simply amazing for a broken knife transformation. You really are very very good at this Ray

Time to switch gears and start making a pile of sheaths. I've got half the table picked up already. :D This knife is now ready for a sheath.

VERY nice job on the Born of Destruction little guy Ray! If it too was left forge finished, I'd be begging you to tack it on to my bill as a little companion to my Hybrid!

Give me a Magic Marker and I can fix it. :D After I get done with the sheaths more will come.

Sheathwork?????

You need to leave that to someone who cannot make knives, lol.

(i'm kidding all you serious leather benders, sheath work is definitely an art of it's own ;))

Ray, reading through that was a real treat! Beautiful knives, every one. I feel honored to get to see this stuff. It's a blast seeing the results of your day and how the work takes shape over time. Like others, I've always liked everything you made. That's a rare talent, given that everyone has different taste.

turned out great, Ray!

I managed to stay on track over the weekend and got two sheaths finished. I mainly wanted to get the one for the Hybrid done and on its way to its new home. I got it posted yesterday so the pressure was off. I felt like I needed some play time so I decided to start forging the next project. I told the customer I wouldn't be able to start on his knife till May so I got a jump on it. Now to see if I can get on track with the sheaths again.

That's looking good Ray, what do you have in mind for the handle on that one?

Oh, and nice color on your sheath!

that's the one! Ray, that's it:thumbup:
I'm so excited- I didn't know which pattern I liked the most, but now I know.
:):):)

Okay Ray - one sheath picture and three forging pics... What does that tell me about you finishing knives? :D No matter how much we love your blades, you better stick to those sheaths for a while! Okay, off my soapbox. :D

Eli, The next knife will be real similar to this one. The new blade is 5160.

I asked because the stick/tang looked significantly larger than normal. I thought maybe you were going to do a full/exposed tang knife, But i think I know you don't like those :)

This one looks great. I wish I could feel it in hand because it appears really comfortable...

What's the technical name for that handle style (where the buttcap forms a sort of reverse guard?)
