What do you think of the Qama (quality, etc.)? Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Uncle Bill. I'm still checking out the forum 2 - 3 times a day but just reading not posting. I really like that new sword, looks kind of like a Gladius, which I'm waiting for you to make next.

For practical purposes, about 4"/6" more blade.

The basic question is what fills your needs best.

Rephrased, do you get an Alleycat by Bauchop or an 8" Randall #2 ( option one ) and hope it's along when you need it? Do you buy 3 or 4 K-bars for the same price and stick 'em in the office, truck, car, and house ( option two )?

Option three is both. Option 4 adds a mak or used S&W 38, option 5 a pump shotgun.

You can probably figure out my preferences. Incidentally, the Savage 340 ( aka Stevens, Springfield ) bolt 30-30's are going in nice condition for a bit over a hundred.

I'm gonna try and post a link to a Kris Cutlery made Gladius--probably won't work.

And here's the Celtic sword which I own and LOVE

I have sort of changed my mind and think I'm going for the large Concert Model next instead of the Bass "E", with the Golden Eagle at a later date.

Yvsa, that's what I was trying to do

Thanks !

BTW,
Where is the large Concert flute on Odell's webpage? I could not find mention of it anywhere.

:
Rob for some reason the concert Flute isn't listed there.
Finn tells me that they are much more labor intensive which reflects in the price.
Something to do with the sound chamber and also the flat it has rather than curved area where the bird sets.
I understand that a very smooth sound chamber improves the tone and sensitivity of a wood instrument.

The only Flutes I have made with the curved surface is the ones I have made from river cane and that's because the cane is to thin to put a decent flat on.
One of these days when I get the new computer and a scanner I will open an account on photopoint and send you some pix of the Flutes I have made.
You would Love my Coyote Flute.

Dang, now I have to start saving up again. That Celtic sword from Kris Cutlery looks good ,too.Is it a real sword or a wall hanger?

------------------
When they said "Repent",I wonder what they meant?

Its real. Its made from 5160 spring steel just like khukuries! And it is diferentially heat treated down each edge. It is a fine blade, especially for the price. Some grind marks are visible, but uniform. I have their katana also, and the Korambit knife from Indonesia.

Rob

Would you guys say that their blades are up to par with the price?
I am curious as to how well made their "naked" Japanese blades are. Spicifically the tanto and Yari.

:
Bro perhaps one of these days a Flute will come your way that won't sound shrill when you try to play it.
biggrin.gif

At least it will give you something to do when you get too old to work anymore.

And Dave I have heard nothing but good words for Kris Cutlery and a lot of those words from guys here on the forum.
That would be a good enough endorsement for me.

One of these days I aim to get one of their Barongs.
I really liked the one BA has from there as well as his Moro Sword, Suntang? I believe it's called?
I put both of BA's blades on my, well actally Rusty's strops that I made for him, at the Khukuri Khonvention at Reno last year and just a couple or so swipes brought them both to hair popping sharp!!!!

YVSA,
I have a lot to do before I get the blades I want from cris. For one I need a strop, how do you make/find yours, and what type of compound do you use?

Dave
