Buck 110 Drop Point BCCI Annual Knife

I really hate that I missed the Club knife but I just couldnt get it into the budget(without my wife finding out;)) Does it have your member number on it. I just assumed the paperstones would have number scribed on it.

Yes, my buffalo/ironwood knife reads 1967/125 on the right face of the blade.

Top:Thank you for your kind offer, but I'll pass. :D

Oh well, it was worth a shot. :)

I went back and looked a the newsletters and sure enough it was right below the paperstone 110's. I guess I didn't give it too much thought before because there were so many knives offered this year. I may check with them and see if they are still available. I think I may have to have one.;)

Dave,
There are just ten remaining member's only knives. I think they are exquisite!
All,
The COA solution is underway. I have approved the COA and we will send them (one per knife) to each purchaser with a letter of explanation. It will take a bit of time for Buck to get the COAs to me and then a bit more time for me to do the mailing. Thanks for your forebearance!
Larry

Thank you!

For putting a gift inscription or your name, etc. I can see that as an option. For adding a believable steel type to the blade, I can't. Heck, I could take a Walmart 110, have it marked as S30V by an engraver.
):D

I agree with Plumber . Buck stamps their upgrade knives with it as a matter of pride, showing they offer a higher standard of quality . Its business advertisement and helps Buck . Plus, a matter of pride as well for us collectors . They stated this particular steel for us -- do us just as normal business procedure . I wouldn't buy one of those others knives because the steel wasn't stamped on the blade . I'm the same thinking on this one . As a matter of fact, I thought about it last night and boxed it up to send it back to Buck this morning and sent Joe H. an e-mail to that effect . But the post offices were closed for Veterans Day . Joe answered my e-mail saying, no problem, just send it to my attention . Great ! I don't care how the snafu occured just put it on the blade . Us collectors are Buck's show case and some of the most loyal customers . Thank you Joe . DM

I had ordered [I think] one and was going to have my Membership number engraved on it instead of the yearly club knife...But the payment deadline passed and I had forgotten completely about it till I read this thread..I had decided to do this to save a few of my precious Buck bucks and still have a cool DP EDC with my LM number on it and take the savings [close to $100.00] to apply to a new 112,maybe even trying to get the new, way cool, Dave Yellowhorse club Buck for this year for my Rare/Odd/1of1/Proto 112 collection....[[I only have a real early satin finish bladed 'Lacy' DY in my display and I think that one would be really nice way to compare early verses new]].....In a way this thread about the 'Missing' stamp reminds me of a earlier club knife fauxpas in which the bolsters were advertised as NS but were delivered in brass.. Some were happy and others were not but in BOTH cases Buck is doing there very best to make EVERYONE happy with there cherished new Buck! Larry,I have to give You,and everyone with the BCCI and Buck, a well deserved round of applause for working so hard to keep this growing Buck family of ours happy when a little 'problem' like this comes up!!!!

i got phone calls to make but i would be happy with it engraved on the blade...
of course it might would have to be Mirror Polished for it to show up :D

To sum up: You sent your paperstone drop point BCCI knife to Buck, attn. Joe, in order to have "S30V" put on the blade.

Where will it go on the blade? Near the blade pivot, as usual?

What about the "BOS" and flame logo? Will it go on the blade as well and just above the "S30V" imprint and near the pivot?

Or, did you put this entirely into Joe's capable hands and you will see what he comes up with when you get the knife back?

How will it be placed on the blade? Laser, stamp or engraving?

Thank you kindly.

The easiest way for them to do it would be to laser etch the logo on the tang, as they did for CKS orders in 2009.

Here's my take on this:
I'm not going to send it back. There will be a COA. That with the BCCI tang stamp and the date code the knife will be easy to positively identify.

Back in the 1920s the USPS made a mistake on one of the very early air mail stamps. The stamp used two plates, one with the stamp ID and denomination, one with a picture of an early air mail plane. A pressman accidently reversed one of the plates, making the plane upside down on the stamp. When they saw what happened they corrected the plate. They went through the printed sheets and pulled all of the ones with the inverted plane and destroyed them - except for one sheet that was accidently overlooked and that went out to the market. That stamp with the inverted plane is now one of the most valuable ever made by the USPS. They fetch tens or even hundreds of thousands at auction. The moral of this story: Sometimes the mistake is more valuable than the correction.

If more people send the knife back to Buck to have the Bos/steel code etched on the blade (and be my guest) there will be fewer of the original knives in the condition that originally left the factory.

My 2¢ :)

But what I'd like to know is how many of these paperstone BCCI 110s were actually made?

I'm confident Joe is a professional with these details and can make it normal just like all the other club knives that came with the steel stamped on the blade and COA in the box from the beginning . I'm not asking for anything new . DM

Just KNOWING it's a S30V really all that would matter to me.... If I end up with one it's going to be a EDC in my dress-up knife rotation.. The 'un-stamp' will just add to Buck Lore!

Has anyone else who did not receive their full order gotten the balance yet? Still awaiting one BCCI "user".

I ordered and received three, all the same day but in two separate boxes. I guess it would be easy for a second box to get there a day or two later than the first one.

I've already given one to my beest friend and he was very impressed with the drop point and paperstone.

Thanks. I emailed Jack that it hadn't arrived and he was going to track it. Hopefully it'll show up today.

I've been carrying one of the Paperstone 110s and showing it to friends. They have all been impressed by a plastic handle made from recycled paper that uses the oil from peanut shells (rather than petroleum oil) as the vehicle to make the thermoplastic. The handle has a nice feel in the hand.

I should have bought a dozen of these because everyone wants one! I'm sure Buck will be coming out with more variations on the theme.

How about:

Blue or Green or Black Paperstone with a bone or stag band near the bare head bolster (paperstone handle, band, paperstone segment, then bolster). :)

Carrying mine today at work for the first time. Haven't used it yet, can't wait for the mail to get here.

My other knife arrived today (thank you Jack). As perfect as the first. Thanks again to BCCI and everyone at Buck.
