??Buck 110 Release Tomorrow (01/10/2022)??

We do over 100k of 110s a year. Much more. No automation on that build. Our edgers hand edge over 1000 a day. Not everyone can be perfect. I'd like to see a 10 year old do that.

I apologize for the snarky comment in my earlier message. I can appreciate the goal of hand-building so many units so quickly and that would no doubt account for some variation. I'm just an ordinary consumer who's new to the brand and thought the model would look a little closer to how they were presented in the promo video. To illustrate, here's a screengrab of the blade advertised in the video next to mine. Don't get me wrong, if this edge is considered acceptable, then I'm ok with it.

P.s actually my comment was more than snarky, it was insensitive to the fact that there are hard working men and women on a factory floor turning out these knives. I've been in their shoes and know how it feels to put in a hard days work and would feel terrible if someone said that about me. I really didn't mean it to belittle anyone least of all the folks at Buck.

I prefer the bevel ya got.....to the marketing pic one. I like steeper bevels.......

Thank you Maui Guy. My apologies back as I could have worded my reply better. Photo samples are usually run separate from the main run, so more time can be taken on those. The edge line will look taller or shorter depending on whether the angle is 13 or 16 degrees (the limits of our edge angle tolerances). So the one on the left could be 16 and the one on the right could be 13. I would have to measure the angles to know if they are in spec. The initial edge thickness before we edge can make that edge line taller or shorter also.
That area next to the choil is hard to get exact as we can't hit the choil or its a reject. That is why you get that little transition on that corner into the edge. If we have to edge it twice to get the angles correct, it will move farther away from that corner.

The one on the right could have been done better as we should have a constant line width from choil to tip and bellied a bit by the choil.

Mr Hubbard..For all those who let's say have 'very high unrealistic expectations' for a production knife is it possible for us to send it in for a 'Spa Service' to have Buck do the very best edge it can be? And of course pay for it!! The edge on my Magnacut 110 IS sharp but toothy?? The grind looks decent and fairly even but to be truthful I never paid much attention to the looks as long as it was sharp. And I'm VERY challenged getting a good edge free hand and in fact even with a Work Sharp I've messed up the edge on a few nice Bucks trying for the 'perfect' edge. Including a 301 BCCI club knife in BG42..That one will go back to yall to be fixed.. Mr. Hubbard I bought the Magancut 110 to really tryout the 110 after 20 years of using mostly 112's and a few other models and basically see if super steels are worth the cost extra effort in sharpening and truly see what is supposed to be the best all purpose knife steel. I AM happy with 420 Sir but a 112 Slim Pro Plus in S35VN made a believer out of me! But I gave it to Armand before I tried to sharpen it. So can I send it in for a Spa treatment so it can be the best it can be? I'm planning down the road to make it bareheaded with horn or nice wood (maybe even Mastodon!) with a rear swell so I can get a better grip with my carpal tunnel wrecked good hand and want it to be the best it possibly can!

pjsjr I have a few 112's by Leroy and 100% agree with you! He does incredible work and knows how to put a edge on a knife. On this 110 I plan to use it all summer and then if I can resharpen it myself go ahead and drop the hundreds of bucks it will take to make it nice. I think the Magnacut 110 will ALWAYS be a desirable collectable Buck and I'm not alone thinking it deserves to look nicer than a $35.00 Walmart 110..

I've seen Leroy's name kicking around quite a lot. Is he on the forum? I may want to use his services sometime.

We could do that for you. Danny (our Warranty Tech) can do a less toothy edge. It still won't be stone smooth as we sand the edge. But if we sand with a 220, it will be less so.

I received mine today thanks to jb monkey.

It’s perfect in my discerning eye, sharp as the dickens, nice grind just like I like it, beautiful dark brown ebony, this Magnacut 110 is definitely going to see some use . Great job Buck !
