Buck 110 vs Modern Folders

Not in 15 seconds you can't without hitting it with anything, batoning etc.... ;)

I have tested almost 1,000 knives in the past 40 years........

The lock back design has flaws in it and if it's not screw construction it's not strong...

Hi Ankerson,

This thread has a few more pages since just last evening when this was posted but I wanted to ask

Out of the 1000 knives you've tested, given your tests and whatever criteria you use, does one knife hold the #1 spot for you? If so, what is it?

Up to post 330 these are the results.

Jill Jackson is winning with 70 posts / 21.2% of the total.
Buckman110 is second with 36 posts / 10.9% of the total.
Ankerson is in a close third but gaining ground with 30 posts / 9.1% of the total.

Ken K.

So by these numbers, a person might get the impression that Jill is very very passionate about the Buck 110  ;) :D
By the numbers, that would be twice as passionate as buckman 110

Not really overall.... They are all just knives to me...

I like thin high performance slicers so I tend to lean more to the Custom Fixed Blades.....

Well, my photo was to show I have a 110 ;)
and to show an example of what it has been used for.

You said you might go try another 110, sounds great, and later please take photos and videos to back up your results ;)

I'll just tell it like it is, pictures and videos won't show a whole lot as I'm not going to beat it, just use it normal. If it holds up or not, I can't see how pictures or a video would show that. Even when Ankerson was beating those knives you pretty well had to take his word for what was happening.

I am not breaking any knives, I don't do that type of testing anymore period.....

However the Strider SmF did just fine.... That was an RW-1... $550 knife....

That Buck CSAR-T folder is a $100+ folder, hard use knife.....

You didn't happen to post a review on the CSAR-T did you ? I'd like to hear your views on it, especially in comparison to the CS Triad lock knives. (Would be real nice to have a Triad lock and ATS-34 for around $100.)

It's a nice looking knife, I get one that holds up well I'd keep it forever. You think I bought one because I wanted to hate it?

Never tested one like I said in the earlier post....

Nobody sent me one and I wasn't going to buy one...

No I never took pictures or a video of a less than 30 dollar knife, I bought at Walmart that loosened up so bad cutting little thorn limbs off on a short hike. I traded it for a handful of fishing lures I really didn't even want.

Hope you told the lure dude he was getting a defective knife he'd have to send in for warranty repair.

I was disappointed my handsome new Buck let me down, cause it did a great job cutting those green thorns.

I understand your disappointment. I had the same experience with a new 110 that I purchased about 7 years ago. It started out tight as a drum, then developed play fairly quickly with just light normal use. Sold it. Recently, I purchased a "new" never used 110 made in 1977 - mostly because I wanted the 440C steel. Right now, it locks open like a vault. It will be interesting to see if it holds.

Funny mine was about 7 years ago as well. It was also dead tight like yours. It also developed play real fast. I really expected it to hold up, too. As I don't abuse my folders.

I don't agree..... I think people prefer a photo or video in addition to words.
Seeing is believing :)
After all, as the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words.

So here is that 2013 in Video. 35 seconds of video is surely worth a million words :D

New to ‘Forums’ so ‘grain of salt’ please..

I’ve used good old Buck’s to my advantage. Long Time [ see my profile for an AAR’ ]..

What’s wrong with ‘substantial’?

Substance feels good..let’s you know where U R..anyone ever seen a ‘lightweight’ Sniper rifle” ..A ‘Lightweight’ Target Gun..I’m a lifelong user of these things and ‘Lightweight’ seems like a moving target.

I race bikes and lightweight is good..but we have a saying..cautionary wisdom..’stupidlight’..you go a little to far you compromise yer reliability.

Wheres the beef..??BEEF.jpg

You didn't show any use for all we know it's brand new, you expect us to just take your word for it?

Well.... if you want to be like that, there is photo and video of my 2013 110 proving its existence and showing no blade play...... where is your 110 again?

Show some good usage in a seamless video, the knife looks brand new. You have proven nothing besides you bought a 110 at this point. You can call me a liar about mine all you want, it's long gone.

Here is a dead branch I just cut off a tree with it, still no play.
It looks nice still, because I don't abuse my knives, i just use them to cut things.
It is just one of several that get rotated for belt carry.

By the way, you could have sent your alleged 110 to Buck, they would have fixed or replaced it.
Then you could have traded or sold it for more than a couple unwanted fishing lures.....

Still no proof whatsoever. By the way why aren't you goading TAH about saying the same thing about his 110 I did? He even sold it! OMG he could have sent it in! Then you should take issue with everyone else in this thread that said Buck's 110 isn't so tough, as well as buckman110 for saying the new stuff is slipping.

So, according to you all I have proven is that I bought a 110?
Awesome :)
You can't even prove that you bought a 110, so all your posts in this thread are less than useless at this point.
