Just came back from Wally-World...They have Buck 110's w/sheath in a very nice commemorative tin box and a deer (buck) head key chain / bottle opener. All for only $23.00 I bought two of em :D

The tin is also labeled as "America's Original", "Buck Model 110"

Might want to check your own Wally-World...I'm in the Clearwater, Florida area.

I found the same thing at WalMart here in Galveston, Texas today. I resisted the urge to load the shopping basket with the entire display and instead just got one. It's a sweet deal. The 110 has the Idaho stamp and the sheath is the nylon one. Price was $23.44 on the receipt.

I may get a few more the next time I go by there. :o

For $23 I might grab a few for little modification projects. I want to enlarge the handle cutout for the lock release and add a Boye dent. Maybe add some texture to the wood too. Thanks for the heads-up!

Dang, I looked at them today, but passed because I didn't see any mention of a sheath on the tin (which was covered in shrink wrap). I was in a hurry though.

May have to pick up an Idaho 110 now. That is a nice deal. May get one for a friend for Xmas as well.

They won't sell them to me here. They said it's not for sale until the day after thanksgiving, so I guess I have to be part of the moron rush crowd.

It's amazing that after all this time, the 110 can be had for less money than ever. And that's not talking inflation-adjusted dollars. The first Buck I ever bought was a 110, in 1976. I paid $25 for it then.

That's the Walmart influence. The $23 knife on the table right now is just a low-ball holiday carrot. They have one every year it looks like (fixed blades last two years).

But Walmart's $28 regular price is probably from their haggling. Notice how the 110 goes for about $35-40 from the online shops that give is such low prices on everything?

Now that I think about it, I would rather the 110 go for $50 and have better steel. Walmart sucks.

I got my first 110 a couple of years after you got yours and yes, I remember it was about $25. It's really hard to believe that they've managed to keep that price about the same all these years (really lowering it as you note), while at the same time maintaining quality, and keeping production in the U.S. Today's 110 is quite a bargain.

I just picked up a 110 from wally-world. $23.44 I like the package.too.

No joy for me. I checked the local Wally World in Muskogee, OK and I couldn't find any 110s as specified above. I guess I'll have to wait.

I just picked one up at a Walmart in central Ohio. If they still have some left in a couple of days I may buy 1 or 2 more for gifts -- that tin would be nicer than a plastic clam pack or little box for gift-giving.

Carl64, your wish for a $50 110 with upgraded steel has been granted, sort of. For $60 you can pick up the Alaskan Guide 110 at Cabelas -- it has an S30V blade.

I was looking at that, but s30v isn't my first pick. I went higher and ordered a 110 with BG42 from the custom shop to see how that steel works out. $84 I think.

I hear you. A number of the guys on the Chris Reeves forum prefer the older BG-42 Sebenzas too.

I've never had a BG-42 knife, but now that the Buck Custom Shop is up and running, I expect that to change before too long.

Bought one of these $23.44 Buck 110s but wound up returning it soon afterwards.

Gritty feel to it. That could be changed with a little work. What put me off was the ultra-crappy sheath. No self-respecting Buck ought to ride in a sheath like that.

I have an extra leather sheath or two at home, but that's beside the point. Carl's got the right idea. I'd rather pay a little more and get a Buck 110 with better materials and a nice cordura sheath. That is, I'd rather take that $25 and put it into a custom. Got my eye on that Asian water buffalo with nickel silver bolsters and BG-42.

Then you'd want to shop Gander or Smokey Mountain rather than Wally World...but then you have to put up with their etchings... :(

Wally World/K-Mart/Sears is a low-end alternative...not a place to expect quality... ;)

I'm just wondering what kind of sheath came with the $23 Buck 110s. Was it one of the ones over to the left, marked "Buck 426" on a white tag on the back?

I like the nylon sheaths, myself. Not many leather sheaths offer both horizontal and vertical carry, and, unlike leather, the nylon sheaths don't have the residual acids of the tanning process remaining, so it means that there's less possibility of rust if one stores their knife in the sheath. My EDC sheath is furthest on the left, and besides the "Buck 426" tag wearing away, and minor slight fraying on the upper edge, over which my outer clothing wears on it, it's as good as it was the first day I bought it, over a year ago. The way that I look at it, sheaths can be replaced, and most EDC sheaths probably will be, eventually.

I have a leather sheath for a 110 that's gotten lost along the way, but I don't use it. The belt loop on my leather 110 sheath seems like it's made for a wide Sam Browne belt or something, and that means an additional 2" of tugging that's necessary, pulling the leather sheath up to the bottom of its belt loop, before the knife gets free of the sheath. The nylon sheaths have less "play" that way, and I don't need to buy a Sam Browne belt. ;)

I've bought my Bucks at Wal*Mart, and if I'm buying a Buck, no matter what store, I expect (and receive...) quality.
