BUCK 110's for $23.00

Gander Mountain has the 110 with leather sheath for $29.99, after 10$ mail in rebate $19.99. I bought 2 this afternoon.

I finally found a couple of Wal*Marts carrying the $23 Buck tins. In one, a SuperCenter, there was a nice stand-up cardboard Buck Knives display of the tins. I decided to get one of the tins.

I'm undecided, as yet, about the quality of the sheath. Yes, at first it made me think that it was made of the same nylon/plastic material as those cheap disposable raincoats of yore, but it's growing on me. It doesn't have the padding or roughness of the Cordura sheaths, so it wouldn't print as much under a shirttail, and it perhaps would allow materials to slide over it rather than rub against it, causing wear.

We'll see. I'm looking forward to matt321's report of his East Texas River trip and how well his sheath help-up.

I found some grittiness, however. It appears that maybe some of the brass polish or rubbing compound used on my 110's brass was left in the spring mechanism. Simply wiping the dark powder out of the spring channel with the blade opened in several positions got rid of the grittiness.

Geothorn,
I survived the trip and so did the sheath. But then my cardboard box of fig newtons didn't do badly either.

Sunset 10 miles into 65 mile downriver trip.

Great sunset!

I'm glad that your $23.44 Buck 110 & new style sheath made it. No bear attacks to fend-off? Maybe you gave the bear your box of Fig Newtons and it sauntered off?

I think that these new sheaths should hold up fine. Except, without the padding of the Cordura sheaths, it might ding the knife up a bit more when I try cutting corners like I don't have a 110 on my hip.... ;)

Finally found a Wally-World with the Buck 110s in tins! :D They had four that I could find. I bought three. :p These will make great Christmas gifts.

Ok, I'm interested in getting a Buck 110. I can get a Buck 110 with leather sheath for $28 or the Wally World Commemorative Buck 110 with the tin, keychain and nylon sheath.

Which is a better deal? I do like the leather sheath over the nylon one.

Scott, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a leather sheath for five dollars...so go with the $28.00 110. Enjoy your knife and good Luck, Preston

Really? Where can you buy a Buck 110 with a leather sheath for just $28? I haven't seen any of those critters.

No one mentioned that the sheaths that come with the $23.44 110 is made in china! as is the tin and key chain but the 110 is still USA so i bought 2

I picked up my Buck 110 from Academy Sports for $27.64 plus tax. It had the leather sheath which I really like.

More power to ya, txgolfer45! You prefer the leather sheath and you can get one along with a 110 for $28, so I think that you got a great deal! The $29.95 ones around here, at Wal*Mart, come with the Cordura sheath pictured in my first post of this thread. (Another "Made in China" sheath...) I believe that all Buck leather sheaths are "Made in America."

Ordered a Schrade uncle henry lock back model LB7 from Smokey mountain knife works and it came in 4 days. The fit was good but the finish was poor so a little Brasso and a soft cloth polished it like a Buck 110 would come out of the box. It also needed some touching up on the sharpmaker but is now as sharp as a Buck 110. So for $19.95, it is as nice as a Buck 110 with a different name. I tend to collect 110 look a likes and this is a good version. I have plenty of Buck110s, but if you want another one that is even cheaper than walmart, get the Shcrade. But if you want great cutting power, order a custom with bg42 steel. happy shopping guys.

The blade has what looks like a little State of Idaho next to the Buck USA stamp. The leather sheath looks very well made and is stamped 110 on the back and says "Buck Knives in the leather and on the closure button. I think the brass parts on the knife picked up some scratches from moving around in the clam shell though. Oh well. Don't have to worry about putting any scratches of my own on it now. lol

One of the Chinese ones? Is it easy to unlock, or does it require the strength of Hulk like mine?

The Gander Mountains in Michigan have a leather sheath 110 for $29.00 less a $10.00 mail in rebate for a total cost of $19.99. These are in a clam pack.

There's a Gander Mountain store about 55 miles away from me, so that'd be a 110-mile round-trip for me. With gasoline prices coming down, it might be worth the drive. However, I'd prefer to simply pay $23.44, and just walk out of the store, rather than be watching my mailbox for a $10 rebate check.

That's just my preference. I'll pay $4 for less hassle and paperwork. ;)
